For the new Truth Hurts, I spoke to Dâm-Funk about playing keyboards on Westside Connection's "Let It Rain," collaborating with Snoop on 7 Days of Funk, his vision for modern funk, the influence of Prince and Junie Morrison, the origins of the Funkmosphere parties, funk's re-emergence in contemporary pop, and why staying true to the music has always mattered more to him than chasing fame.
One of my favorite episodes we've done.

Show in Toronto went very smooth.
It was all vinyl & not 1 curse word in
the set. Not 1 curse word on the 🎤.
It’s nice 2 see U can still experience
a night of 🎵, without all of the low
frequencies we’re so used 2 being
crowbar’d into ‘most’ events we roll
2 within the nitelife.
Tonight, 10/10/26 in Toronto, Ontario 🇨🇦

🔬 ROVR Research:: Japanese Electronica
Japan's electronic music culture grew alongside an extraordinary domestic synth industry. Korg, Yamaha and Roland put instruments like the CS series, the SH and Jupiter lines and legendary drum machines into Japanese studios.
Following pioneers like Isao Tomita, electronic sounds spread through jazz fusion, prog, new wave and techno-pop, with Yellow Magic Orchestra putting synths at the heart of modern Japan. Their influence reached British synth-pop, American electro and ultimately Detroit techno.
ROVR Research takes a deep dive into Japanese Electronica.

Steve Arrington and the group Slave didn’t sound like nobody else. Their brand of funk created its own rules.
