Great to see that digital exclusion is receiving attention, as it's an issue that *could* get a lot worse in an increasingly data-driven society! Might be of interest to @DataSciCampus too given their related work on broadband accessibility datasciencecampus.ons.gov.uk…
🤳We're looking into the causes and consequences of digital exclusion 👇Last week Prof @HelenMargetts from @turinginst pointed out that the effects of digital exclusion are likely to be compounded in an increasingly data-driven world:

A really useful chart illustrating why the markets have been freaking out about Liz Truss' "mini budget"
I feel bad for New Zealand as its so often cut off maps... To make up for it here is a gorgeous vintage map from 1931. "A Map of New Zealand Portraying Her Agricultural Products & Fisheries." It's easy to see that wool is what made the country... Source: buff.ly/3eF6ZP1

I know how much work goes in producing the CPI/RPI so I'm pretty skeptical that a competing measure would do a better job... theguardian.com/society/2022…

... However, I once spoke to someone involved in the world of web scraping supermarket prices and they claimed that supermarkets were gaming the system by putting up prices of goods excluded from the official CPI basket more than those that were included.

Spain is about to reintroduce mandatory wearing of masks OUTSIDE. Meanwhile, not wearing one while seated INSIDE a restaurant is perfectly fine. I don't have a problem with the state imposing rules to protect public health but not inconsistent rules that have no scientific basis.

Also forgot to mention, you don't need to wear a mask outside if you are playing sport or jogging. Apparently, a peson walking along the street is more dangerous than someone jogging past and exhaling deeply!
