When that is the case it is important those mistakes are identified, acknowledged and corrected as soon as possible. "However, the BBC is still the news brand that is most trusted by the UK public and it continues to represent a very high standard of UK journalism across the globe. The upcoming Charter review is a good opportunity for the BBC and the Government to look at what is working well and what can be improved, but we must not fall into the trap of focusing only on the negative and ignoring the vital contribution the BBC continues to make to journalism and keeping citizens informed.”
