Iām sorry to inform all of you, but now that my favorite team follows me on twitter, they are now my best follower š¤·āāļø @NJDevils
This blows the door open on any āWhen will Remi get a look?ā conversation. I canāt say I really agree with the two guys theyāre rolling with though. Weāve watched the team throw seasons away in the past betting on the wrong horses.
Thanks Anthony
Sheldon Keefe when asked about the plan with Remi Poirier:
"From our approach, itās a two-goalie system here. Our focus, obviously, has been on getting Dawsy up and running and feeling good.
The question you ask, itās really an organizational discussion and decision. Itās not a coaching decision.
If or when we make a switch and get Poirier involved more, thatāll come from Sunny and how we want to do it.
But itās been very obvious all summer long, all summer and camp and all this, to get Dawsy and Allen up and running, get them feeling good and give them a chance at success. Thatās been the focus.
I donāt think thereās a goalie in the world who would tell you that a three-goalie system is healthy mentally, to stay focused and feel trusted and all of that kind of stuff.
The plan remains the same. Weāll make adjustments if we feel the need.
Poirier, at this point, is nice insurance for us in terms of our depth. Heās been handling it tremendously.
How it proceeds will be more of an organizational decision than it will be mine, but the priority remains on Dawsy and Jake." #NJDevils

Interesting looking at some of these teams because the Oilers have turned it around defensively.
Look Devils defensive structure has to be better but the Devils havenāt resolved the goaltending issue but the play in front of the goalies has to be better.
Goaltending isnāt a problem as some think it is given the structure in front. That said you are relying on a 36 year old and two unproven guys. Could add a true number one but will that change anything if structure doesnāt.

"(Utica) needs to be something that we make more of a priority, that we think more about in terms of both not just the success of that organization in terms of wins and losses, but just also in terms of player development."

Some games theyāre better. But the effort and habits have been wildly inconsistent.
To me itās coaching

Could Allen have made a big save or two? Absolutely. But tough to put this one on Allen. The devils were badddd defensively.
A thread on some of the goals against and what I think went wrong, bad habits, etc.
Starting with the caps second goal..

I get itās the broadcastās job to put a positive spin on things, but this is wayyyy beyond just a āwork in progressā with āa lot of new facesā. Thereās a massive systemic flaw
Whoever the next coach that comes in needs to get these players not to panic so much whenever theyāre forechecked
Came back to earth today. This team is embarrassing defensively. Just lazy and stupid unforced errors
