"Juan Bertoglio, immunologiste à l'Université Australe de Valdivia et découvreur, il y a plus de quarante ans, de la souche andine de l'Hantavirus. Dans une longue interview accordée à la Nouvelle boussole quotidienne et écrit par le journaliste Andrea Zambrano, Bertoglio réduit drastiquement le risque global lié au virus, définissant “pure folie” toute tentative de générer de la panique ou d'imaginer des scénarios similaires à ceux vécus pendant Covid.
Le professeur explique que la souche des Andes présente une caractéristique particulière : elle présente une pathogénicité très élevée mais une contagiosité extrêmement faible. Essentiellement, ceux qui tombent malades peuvent développer des formes très graves de la maladie, mais les risques d’infection restent minimes. Bertoglio utilise une métaphore efficace : “C'est comme un vase de fleurs tombant d'un balcon. Si cela vous frappe, cela peut vous tuer, mais la probabilité que cela se produise est très faible”.
Selon l’immunologiste, le véritable problème vient de la communication publique et de la gestion psychologique de l’urgence. Switzerland built the world's most prosperous society by doing exactly what every government expert told them not to do: staying neutral, keeping taxes low, and letting markets work.

The regulatory contrast is staggering. Switzerland ranks 4th globally in economic freedom while EU heavyweights like Germany (16th) and France (64th) plummet under Brussels' command-and-control apparatus. 100 people still died because they stood watching the flames, thinking it was part of the show.
I've retrofitted fire safety for some of the largest property portfolios in the UK post-grenfell.
You are confusing stupidity with biology, physics, and catastrophic design failures.
Here is the actual science of what you are watching:
1. When the music keeps playing and staff don't panic, the human brain overrides flight instincts to fit the threat into a normal context. This is called normalcy bias. These kids froze to process conflicting social cues, not to post for likes. They were likely already filming. They were also likely drunk.
2. We explicitly design buildings to account for this hesitation (pre-movement time). Fire safety codes assume people will wait before running. In a compliant building, you can assume up to a minute or two before egress commences. Sprinklers and detection systems are designed specifically to buy that time.
3. The reason the time buffer didn't exist here is the material. That ceiling is polyurethane foam. It doesn't burn linearly; it hits flashover (1,100°F) in under 90 seconds. It's essentially solid gasoline. The room would have exploded for all intents and purposes. Way before anyone could reasonably evacuate.
4. We calculate exit widths based on how many people can physically pass through a door per minute (flow rate) versus how fast a fire spreads. With foam fires, the available safe egress time drops to almost zero. Even if they had reacted instantly, the crowd density would have choked the exits before the room cleared.
5. In any normal building fire, especially one that starts off small, you expect a responsible adult to put it out, or sprinklers to do the same. When there's a pan fire in a restaurant, you don't run out in case the entire building suddenly explodes. No reasonable person should have expected this unless they were the owner and knew how the building was designed.
Those poor teenagers likely passed out from smoke inhalation soon after this video. If they didn't, they would have been caught in a catastrophic explosion as they crammed into the single tiny exit.
They didn't die because of Instagram.
They died because the physics of the fire moved faster than human bodies can physically squeeze through a door, and a catastrophic disregard of safe design principles meant they never stood a chance.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun just drew the line in the sand:
“In the next 5 years, humanoid robots will completely take over our factories.”
That means thousands of Xiaomi workers — and eventually tens of millions across global manufacturing — face direct replacement.
What happens to those workers?
Lei Jun says:
- Retrain some for robot maintenance, AI oversight, and R&D
- Shift others to the “even bigger” household-robot market
- Overall: “intelligent manufacturing will create higher-value jobs”
But history is brutally honest:
When Foxconn rolled out tens of thousands of robots in 2016, an equal number of workers disappeared — most were never retrained.
Many factory jobs that vanished in the last automation wave never came back in any form.
The hard truth nobody wants to say out loud:
The new jobs (robotics engineers, AI trainers, technicians) require degrees, years of study, and 10× fewer people than the assembly lines they replace.
A 45-year-old line worker who’s been tightening screws for two decades doesn’t become a robotics programmer in a 6-month course.
By 2030, “factory worker” as a mass middle-class career could be gone forever — not just at Xiaomi, but everywhere humanoids reach cost parity.
Workers and their families deserve real answers, not just CEO optimism.
