I'd urge you, turn off the social media, sit down with people in real life, the conversations are much better, and people are virtually always more reasonable. This whole social media experiment was worth running, seems pretty clear what the outcomes have been. Cheers.

It’s #WeekWithoutDriving so when suburban friends had us over for a party, of course we took @KingCountyMetro. Little did we know, the last bus of the night would pass us up. Is waving our arms not good enough? Now we’re stuck in Newcastle. Do we take a $60 uber? I guess so!

Ezra Klein asked Bill Gates whether normal corporate incentives are enough to handle AI risks. Gates doesn’t mince words:
...very interesting & somewhat troubling deep dive look at AI, its potential dangers without control and its potential benefits. Keeping AI out of the hands of people with bad intentions will be the big challenge. nytimes.com/2026/09/29/opini…

I wish more Americans could wrap their heads around this. Amsterdam is easier to drive in than Atlanta -- despite far, far less road capacity -- because so FEW people have reason to drive cars there. Give people choices, and the whole city works better.
Which has better travel times for cars: Amsterdam or Atlanta? Remarkably, it's Amsterdam. There's a critical lesson here: it's possible to design great places for walking, biking, and transit that are also better for drivers. We just published a report on how.

Alt headline: the Fare Ambassador program is such a failure at ensuring fare payment that the board doesn’t even view it as reformable
Fare gates are coming to as many as 14 Link light rail stations, including all stops between Northgate and the Chinatown-International District, as part of a pilot program approved Thursday by the Sound Transit board. Installation is targeted for 2029-2030.

We all have that asshole neighbor that keeps us up at night with their modified exhaust or missing muffler. Now they’re secretary of transportation.
Thanks to @USDOT, our trucks can go back to sounding like this 🇺🇸

Last year we raced the bus and beat it jumping rope, hopscotching, etc but only with a change in mayor did we get the bus sped up. I’ve been fighting with @FixTheL8 for 3 years now to speed up what once was the slowest and least reliable bus in Seattle. theurbanist.org/wilson-rinck…

Seattle was a very cool World Cup city. Walkable, which I think is maybe a big thing at this tournament. people on the streets, fans mixed together. And an obvious, beautiful epicentre on the waterfront, next to Pike Place market. Loved it – at Seattle, WA
