The main criticism of Infantino is about him, FIFA, football and World Cup being politically compromised — rather than his ability to put on a good show.
(It's the World Cup, for god's sake. Of course it's good.)
These concerns have been 100% reinforced

The old 15-slide Instagram post method of claiming all your critics are wrong about everything. Gianni Infantino is clearly feeling some pressure. Nothing united opposing supporters during World Cup as much as a collective boo every time his face appeared bbc.com/sport/football/artic…

Interesting story by @CaroKyllmann. LA 2028 sponsors are reportedly being put off sustainability initiatives so as not to risk upsetting Donald Trump.

Anti-doping bodies, like the ITA here, are damned if they do or damned if they don't. We rightly criticise them for not testing thoroughly and then, if they do, it is supposedly a "commercial matter" about justifying their budget nytimes.com/athletic/7464267…
Good for this to be criticised... Blessing Okagbare is one of the highest profile doping cases to emerge during a recent Olympic Games, she was DQ'd after the heats of the 100m in Tokyo, so IOC should be very aware
Hi @Olympics. You have a drugs cheat serving a 11 year doping ban as your poster girl.. maybe your comms team need to some clean sport education.
It’s embarrassing!
"Vingegaard’s and Pogacar’s night-time doping tests authorised by Paris judge". Still a lot we don't know, and arguably should not know, about exactly why these tests were done theguardian.com/sport/2026/j…

I don’t post here much. But I’ll roll this grenade down the aisle: 2am testing is one of the very effective ways to prevent peptide(EPO,hGH) and testosterone micro dosing. If UCI had tested us in 2001 at 2am? We’d all have been suspended and saved the sport 25 years of drama.
Good article on the nightime drug testing saga at Tour de France. It is obviously very tough to be tested at 2am and possibly did contribute to Jonas Vingegaard's crash the next day, although obviously we cannot be sure. However... 1/

Substances and methods exist where any trace can disappear from your body in 4-5 hours or less. So...if you know you won't get tested at night, you have carte blanche to do certain things. See, e.g. this article on EPO microdosing veloracycling.com/features/t… 3/

Ruling in landmark ECJ data protection case in Austria in favour of the publishing of the names of athletes convicted of doping offences. Should set a big precedent in other countries, including Germany. sportschau.de/investigativ/n… 1/
Verdict here explaining the complaint and the decision. Still some wriggle room and limits to publication but essentially ruled that details of doping cases are not confidential health or personal information...therefore no GDPR reason not to publish curia.europa.eu/site/upload/… 2/
