IDBI Bank has been sold to Fairfax Holdings, a Canadian company headed by Prem Watsa. The man was awarded the Padma Shri in 2020.
IDBI Bank was trading around Rs.90 in Indian stock market, but was sold to Fairfax at Rs.81 per share, a whopping 10% discount. Watsa now owns a controlling stake of 60.72% of IDBI Bank, while the government entities own 39%. IDBI Bank’s stake sale amount is around Rs.53,000 crores, while its valuation is Rs.87,000 crores.
But here’s what is concerning.
IDBI is a profitable bank. Its net profit is Rs.9500 crores. It has reduced its NPAs from 32% in 2018 to 2.3% in 2026. This was a huge turnaround. Why would such a bank be sold to a foreign investor like Fairfax at a discounted value?
Fairfax already controls CSB Bank in India. Banking regulations do not permit one promoter to control two Indian banks. Yet Fairfax has been given two years to merge CSB with IDBI or exit. Why?
No promoter is allowed to hold more than 26% stake in a bank, and yet Fairfax has been offered 60.72% controlling stake with an extension of 15 years to pare it down to 40% by 10th year and 26% by 15th year. Technically, Fairfax can control the bank for 9 years, and sell 34.72% at a huge premium in the 10th and 15th year. Why?
In CSB, Fairfax has made a 129% return on their investment in 7 years. So it is safe to assume that IDBI Bank would double its market cap in 10 years, in addition to dividends and profits it makes.
Diwali has arrived early for Fairfax in 2026.
What happened to Make in India? What happened to Atmanirbhar Bharat? Such uncomfortable questions should not be asked. Bhai ne bola karne ka, toh karne ka.

19 people are dead at Chorbagan, yet Amit Shah is being welcomed with dance and dhol in Kolkata.
This is the BJP’s idea of leadership: CELEBRATION FOR THE POWERFUL, INDIFFERENCE TO THE DEAD.
When will this regime learn that human lives matter more than political optics?
SHAMEFUL!

Bittu spent eight months cleaning river with his own hands. Within a month, he watched people turn it dirty again. 💔
India has countless Bittus - ordinary citizens fighting extraordinary battles in their own little corners.
But individual heroism can’t replace systemic change.
That’s why governments matter. And that’s why we support AAP.
Look at Punjab’s stubble story: something that once seemed almost impossible to change has seen farm fires fall 93% from 2021 to 2025, while paddy straw is increasingly being collected for biomass, biofuel and other uses.
Real change isn’t one Bittu cleaning a river.
It is a system that keeps the river clean after Bittu goes home.

“Murders will happen… murders keep happening.”
- that’s what Bihar BJP minister Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha reportedly said.
Is this how the BJP government values human life?
When people can be killed and a minister’s response is “murders keep happening,” what message does that send to criminals—and to every ordinary citizen?
A government that normalizes murder has failed its most basic duty: protecting lives.
In the United States, 47-year-old Cassandra Goldstein was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Police officer Michael Hart slammed her against a concrete bench.
The impact resulted in multiple facial fractures, the loss of several teeth, and permanent vision loss in one eye, requiring the implantation of a titanium plate.
Officer Hart, who had 19 years of service, was dismissed and sentenced to two years in prison.
Following legal proceedings against the police department, Cassandra was awarded $810,000 in compensation.
People always talk negatively about India, but they never show the good side of India. 🇮🇳
So here’s the positive side of India: 👇🏻
Global Water Quality Index: 120th out of 122 countries
- Only two countries have worse water quality rankings than India.
Global Hunger Index: 100th out of 120 countries
- Yet we have the audacity to mock starving children in Gaza.
Press Freedom Index: 157th out of 180 countries
- Even Somalia ranks higher than India, at 126th.
Corruption Perceptions Index: 91st out of 182 countries
- The government itself has become synonymous with corruption. 💀
World Happiness Report: 116th out of 147 countries
- Somalia ranks 117th. At least we’re winning something.
World’s Top 100 Universities: Not a single Indian university.
- Not even one IIT or NIT. We celebrated overtaking Japan in GDP, but Japan has four universities in the global top 100. Priorities, right?
Our Most Sacred Rivers: The Ganga and Yamuna.
- Sorry, sorry… Ganga Devi and Yamuna Devi. How dare anyone question their purity?
World’s Most Polluted Countries: India ranked 6th in 2026.
- We’re not stopping until we claim that number one spot.
Food Waste: India ranks among the world’s largest food wasting countries.
- By 2047, perhaps we’ll aim for the number one spot too.
Most Polluted Cities: 66 of the world’s 100 most polluted cities are in India.
- Not even a single city is in Somalia.
Women, Peace and Security Index: India ranks 131st out of 181 countries.
- Somalia ranks 170th. At least we can still find someone below us.
But who cares? India is a Vishwaguru. 🇮🇳
Remove 190 nuclear weapons from India, and it would look like an upgraded version of Somalia. From the moment we wake up to our alarms to the moment we fall asleep scrolling through social media, so much of our daily technology depends on the US.
The Indian government is making excuses. We’re already deeply connected to global technology, and absolute security in today’s digital world is almost impossible. Going against Elon Musk, one of the most influential figures in the tech industry, could eventually cost India more than it gains.
Not today, not tomorrow, but eventually, i believe the Modi government will allow Starlink to operate in India.
India should focus on building a partnership with Starlink. Elon is a technological visionary, and allowing Starlink into the Indian market could create more opportunities for India and its people.

What if Maharashtra’s water crisis forces us to rethink offices & schools this summer💧
We were discussing this over chai, and the concern is real.
Housing societies are already facing water cuts and restrictions. If the situation worsens as summer approaches, the impact could extend far beyond our homes.
Should companies consider Work From Home?
Would schools consider temporary online classes where practical?
A few years ago, WFH was a pandemic necessity. Seems like govt is exploring a practical response to a water crisis this summer?
