The Chilterns Conservation Board remains of the view that HS2 will cause lasting and irreparable damage to the wildlife, landscape and communities of the Chilterns AONB.

ALT Now that construction work has begun, we are monitoring a range of works in the Chilterns AONB and responding to concerns and questions brought to our attention by members of the public, local community groups, parish councils and others. We are also liaising closely with key partners including Buckinghamshire Council, Natural England, the Chiltern Society and Thames Valley Police.

Swampy is back, say reports. The 90s eco-warrior is said to be 50 feet up in a hammock in Jones Hill Wood in Bucks, to "slow down" the eviction of anti #HS2 protestors. It's thought to be his first high-profile direct action in decades. #AncientWoodland

BREAKING: The official Infrastucture & Projects Authority, hardly a hot bed of pro-XR radicals, have just issued a report that damns HS2. For the first time, they have moved it into the worst category, “red”. Of schemes that are now unaffordable.

Highly misleading Daniel. Lobbyists Northern Powerhouse Partnership confirm that #HS2 involves major road building and will facilitate the expansion of airports leading to increased pollution via the creation of new European and intercontinental flights.

HS2 require 6-10 mega litres of water a day during tunnelling operations, in prospective this is the same amount of water needed to supply 40,000-70,000 people, all being done during a period when local consumers are being asked to ration water use due to a shortage of supply.

Easy to say something is £3bn more expensive when you don't provide the working. The same applies to the benefits. Back in 2009, when the route was picked by Adonis after a few months work, the Phase 1 cost was said to be £12.3bn.

Now I KNOW this guy is mad! Just 1km2 of mature #trees produces 29ton #oxygen/day. That's enough for 10,000 people. Yet #DominicCumming proposed #HS2 chop our native forests then build machines to compensate that loss?

I know we’ve slipped the boundaries of value for money but their route proving exercise #hs2 did in 2012 claimed M40 route would be £3bn more expensive.....back in those days when they were 95% certain Phase 1 would cost £21bn including almost 40% contingency!

That's low pay at HS2 ltd. Working there made this guy a millionaire in his 2 year stay.

The previous HS2 CEO cost the taxpayer 1.5 million plus bonus (circa £2 million) in a 2yr stay.
He paid out over 3 million in staff redundancy payments, mostly unauthorised,
Was it value for money? #HS2 is not a gravy train they say!

The European Court of Justice has ruled that this should only ever happen in “Exceptional circumstances”.
In 2018 water companies spent over 900,000 hour dumping sewage into our rivers. Exceptional?
And the @EnvAgency does what exactly?
Replying to @EnvAgency @EmmaHowardBoyd
This is raw, untreated sewage entering the river Wharfe Ilkley, permitted under licences issued by your Environment Agency. This should only happen under storm conditions. Happens here after 20 mins of light rain. Hardly a 'Storm'.
