My OC's name is Suit. She is a recent graduate who completed employer-sponsored education and is now contractually obligated to work for the "Sunrise" Corporation under rather harsh conditions

probably a hot take on this but I do feel like treating Nikki as through she's real and not fictious isn't really healthy. I don't think anyone is going to deny that she's the victim of her story, but to treat her like she's not a movie character and instead treating her like a genuine tragedy is blurring a line that we really shouldn't.
There's a clear distinction in Film and Entertainment that we may be losing here with associating actors as characters and characters as people. And the further down that rabbit hole we go, the more dehumanizing actors or even subjects of documentaries and true crime media will become. Media Literacy is to understand that Nikki is the victim of the movie. it is also to understand that media as an artform is an emotional introspection and intended to make you think when viewing the media. Outside of that media, the lessons you learn or the emotion you empathize with can stick with you. However the media itself is fiction and the events of the film, even if they do spur an emotional or viceral response, did not actaully take place. I know Obsession goes to some pretty real and dark places but that is all part of the story's carefully crafted intention. At the end of the day this is all intended for your entertainment.
Inde Navarrette did an outstanding portrayal of this character and her performace really elevates it off the screen, but even she seems to love having fun with these fan favorite moments and memes of Nikki. And that's a much healthier way of seeing the character. As a character on film that she appreciates and loved being a part of. And as far as at least I'm concerned, that should be a pattern that anyone who enjoyed the film itself should be able to treat it's story and characters. Not celebrating a terrible action or glorifying ugly part of what takes place within a horror film, but still applauding the portayal and the ability for the media to make you feel and empathize for these characters that you see.
So no she's not Michael Myers, but to say she's not also a fictional character in a Horror Film intended for your entertainment and treat her as though she's a living breathing human being is a dangerous line to cross.

Hey, @_AlexHirsch! My son has three (!) separate copies of The Book of Bill now. Suffice it to say he is an enormous fan. If you ever want to trade a signature on these bad boys for a stack of signed Sanderson books, hit me up. :)
