Elon Musk would like you to believe anti datacenter sentiment is a Chinese op.
The X Safety team conducted an investigation into suspected Chinese inauthentic accounts involved in influence operations:
We identified a bot farm of approximately 200,000 accounts. Within this farm, we found 200 accounts posting in a manner that could manipulate a legitimate debate about American AI and energy policy.
These posts contained claims that AI data centers are driving up household electricity prices and straining the grid. Others included AI-generated cartoons that depicted data-center operators enriching themselves at the public's expense.
We remain committed to maintaining an open and authentic platform where people debate topics of public interest. We take seriously any attempts to undermine the integrity of the global town square and suspend accounts that violate our Authenticity policy.

There are even bigger UX problems with the carousel. It adds (an overload of) horizontal scrolling to a vertical scrolling TL. If you don’t scroll perfectly vertically, you’ll scroll sideways in the carousel instead of up/down. If you do intentionally scroll sideways to see the images the carousel hides from you by default, when if you swipe too vigorously when you swipe back to see the earlier image(s) again, you can be kicked out of the deeply nested comment thread you were viewing as the motion is interpreted as a navigation swipe. Many other issues.

Do you know how laughably cheap it would be to locally mirror – not even host! – a mere 50 TB of apparently priceless data?

Our EasyBCD is apparently a target of phishing campaigns; we’ll do what we can to get impersonators removed. As always our software is malware/bundleware/ad-free and free for home use. If anyone is making you pay, click away! Let us know if you want it in the App Store.
Be careful downloading Windows 11 apps from Google, 70+ fake sites are pushing malware right now.
This includes tools like PowerToys, CrystalDiskMark, EasyBCD, Lively Wallpaper, Wintoys, SignalRGB, MKVToolNix, and more.
Some fake sites rank above the real project pages on Google.
Attackers create a convincing-looking app website, rank for the app’s name, look harmless at first by linking to the real download source, then later swap the download button with malware.
Check Point has already traced malware families like RemusStealer and AnimateClipper to these campaigns. Lively Wallpaper and SignalRGB developers have confirmed active impersonation attacks too.
This is why “just Google the app name and download it” is no longer safe advice.
For Windows apps, check the Microsoft Store first. If the app is not there, use the developer’s official GitHub or verified website.
