.@JustineLumumba: Cabinet has decided to reverse the proposal for the development of City Square, formally known as Constitution Square, and retain the site’s existing legal status. This decision followed consideration of the site’s history, its legal protection, and the environmental and urban planning issues raised by the proposal. Constitution Square is a protected heritage site. Its protection dates back to 2007 and is recognised under the Museums and Monuments Act, 2023, and the heritage protection instrument issued in 2024. The protected site covers approximately 1.172 hectares, comprising plots 5, 6 and 7. It also contains the 1945 War Memorial, which commemorates Ugandan soldiers who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars. The Square and its memorial are part of our national history. Decisions about the site must respect that history and its protected status. The public should therefore be clear: Cabinet has reversed the development proposal. Constitution Square will retain its existing legal status. @KagutaMuseveni @mkainerugaba @KCCAUG @UgandaMediaCent @kasujja @MKarekye

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐆𝐆𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝐖𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐊 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 💔🤍 To many people, I am a mother of four. But what many don’t know is that, for my husband and I, our journey to having these four beautiful children has not been as easy as it may appear. Perhaps we could have had more children, or welcomed them earlier, but our story has been filled with silent battles, heartbreak, prayers, and tears. Some women struggle to conceive. Others conceive but experience spontaneous abortions (miscarriages). Some carry the pain of losing pregnancies they had already fallen in love with, while others endure years of waiting, hoping, and praying for the cry of a baby in their homes. Yet, society can be so cruel. “She can’t even give her husband a child.” “She is barren.” “What is wrong with her?” People make these comments without knowing the tears shed behind closed doors, the hospital visits, the countless prayers, the disappointments, or the pain of watching another month pass without the answer they have been waiting for. Behind every woman’s fertility journey, there may be a story the world knows nothing about. These experiences have taught me that life is often much deeper than what we see. Sometimes, there are biological explanations that require medical attention. Sometimes, our faith leads us to seek God in ways we never have before. And sometimes, we find ourselves holding on to God even when we do not understand why we are going through what we are going through. One thing I have learned is that God remains God, even in our pain. The Bible tells us that children are a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3). Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). When I lost a pregnancy, I was broken. It was a pain I cannot fully explain. I cried, I questioned, and I prayed like never before. A few months later, God blessed us with a baby girl, and later, a baby boy. Today, I am a mother of four, but that blessing does not erase the pain of the pregnancies I lost or the journey that brought me here. Sometimes, I go to the hospital and the doctor asks, “How many pregnancies have you had?” And I have to say EIGHT. Yet, I have four children. That number carries a story. A story of lives I hoped to hold, dreams I carried, losses I grieved, and moments when I had to gather the pieces of my heart and trust God again. It is a reminder that the number of children a woman has is not always the full story of her motherhood journey. So, please, NEVER MOCK A WOMAN WHO IS TRYING TO CONCEIVE. Never make jokes about her womb. Never pressure her to give her husband a child. Never assume that because she has no children, she has not tried. And never assume that because she has children today, her journey was easy. You may be looking at a woman who has cried herself to sleep, buried dreams, endured miscarriages, faced medical challenges, and prayed prayers she has never shared with anyone. Let us learn to be gentle with one another. Let us replace judgment with compassion, insensitive questions with kindness, and assumptions with understanding. To every woman waiting for a positive pregnancy test, to every woman who has experienced a miscarriage, to every woman who has lost a baby, and to every woman silently fighting a battle no one knows about: I see you. Your pain is real. Your story matters. And you are worthy of love, respect, and compassion. May God comfort every grieving heart, strengthen every woman who is still waiting, and give us the grace to trust Him even when the journey is painful. And may we never forget that behind some of the happiest smiles are stories of battles that were fought in silence. Please, be kind. You never know what someone has had to survive to become who they are today. ❤️🙏🏽

Planned power cuts cost Uganda ~141 million customer hours in 18 months, and ~UGX 186bn in economic value. UEDCL itself lost just ~UGX 12.6 bn in sales. The economy paid ~15x more. The utility loses about 7 shillings for every 100 shillings the economy loses.

Trump is treating Museveni's Uganda like a simp; a big simp! The regime has done EVERYTHING to please Trump: offered to deploy in Gaza for Trump's Board of Peace, Ayebare Adonia jumped into praise for Rubio & Trump against the ICC & anything he says, Uganda extradited Katungi to stand trial in the US; everything Trump asks from Museveni, he gets! Now, with ZERO cases of Ebola in over a month, Uganda has instead be elevated to "Level 4 Travel Advisory" the highest, basically telling Americans NOT to travel to Uganda when the expectation was it would be removed. That is how simps are treated! Almost all the nation on the list: Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Libya, Mali, Niger, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, are in the course of a serious civil war - except Museveni's simping Uganda! Don't be a simp! It never works for those who make themselves READILY available! africa.businessinsider.com/l…

🚨🚨DEAN OF THIEVES 🚨🚨 We the traders, boda riders, youth and ordinary Ugandans have suffered enough. We are not refusing to pay tax. We are refusing to be over taxed and scammed by a system designed to make us poor. This is how URA over taxes us; 1. Six Taxes on One Item. This is a Scam. You import one phone or one bale of clothes. URA charges you; - Import Duty 25% - Excise Duty - VAT 18% - Withholding Tax 6% - Infrastructure Levy 1.5% - Environmental Levy 30% One item, six taxes stacked on top of each other. By the time you reach Kikuubo, the price has tripled. Who can afford that? This is not taxation, this is extortion. 2. PAYE 40% - Highest in East Africa. In Rwanda PAYE is 30%, Tanzania 30%, Kenya 30%. In Uganda it's 40%. A worker who earns 1M takes home only 600k. Government takes 400k before you even buy food which also has 18% VAT. Where is our take home? 🏠 3. Fuel Excise Raised Every Year. Fuel excise from 1,350/= to 1,550/= to now 1,750/=per litre. Every time fuel goes up, everything goes up taxi fare, food, cement, soap. Yet URA says they are widening tax base. 4. Double Taxation on Small Businesses. A small shop owner in Kampala pays: Trading license to KCCA, Income tax to URA, VAT 18% plus daily EFRIS fines of 2M, 6M for small mistakes. Many shops closed in 2024-2025 because of EFRIS enforcement without education. 5. EFRIS and Instant Fines are Digital Scam. URA introduced EFRIS but did not train traders. Now a mistake of not issuing a receipt is 2M fine, then 6M. How can a woman selling tomatoes afford 6M? This is not tax collection rather this is punishment of the poor. 6. 11% Tax to GDP yet Harassing the Same 1 Million People. URA collects only 11% of GDP, the lowest in EAC because they fear to tax the rich and the corrupt who steal billions. So they squeeze the same 1 million compliant Ugandans, boda riders, market women and small shops over and over. What we ask not request because we are tax payers; 1. Reduce PAYE from 40% to 30% like our neighbors. 2. Reduce VAT from 18% to 10% like Kenya. 3. Stop stacking 6 taxes on one imported item and harmonize to one single tax. 4. Stop EFRIS fines until every trader is trained free of charge. 5. Publish online how every shilling is used. URA @URAuganda , you are not collecting tax. You are killing businesses. You are making Uganda the most expensive country to live in East Africa. If you tax us to death, who will pay tax tomorrow? We Pay Tax, We Deserve Respect, Not Scam. #TaxJusticeUg #EndOverTaxation

Planned heist of UGX 158,306,078,821 (Uganda Shillings One Hundred and Fifty-Eight Billion, Three Hundred and Six Million, Seventy-Eight Thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty-One only) The President’s directive of 26 July 2022 is unambiguous: the Intelligent Transport Management System must be implemented by "the Russians at their own cost." Who would recover their investment through selling of digital number plates and traffic fines. No funds from the Consolidated Fund or Treasury are to be used. Vehicle registration, fleet management, speed governors and related activities were specifically to be handled through the capabilities of this system which is assumed to be self-financing using Ugandans who own vehicles or want to own vehicles. Instead, the Ministry of Works and Transport has concocted a UGX 158,306,078,821 (One Hundred and Fifty-Eight Billion, Three Hundred and Six Million, Seventy-Eight Thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty-One) contract for motor vehicle registration through direct procurement with @itmsug. The very activity the President ordered must be done without funds from the treasury. This is the same function that has already swallowed roughly UGX 110 billion of public money with no tangible output apart from the deterioration of service delivery to those acquiring motor vehicles. What makes this even more brazen is the sequence of approvals. The Contracts Committee approved the contract on 8 June 2026. Only afterwards, on 20 July 2026, did the Solicitor General clear the procurement documents. Documents that must be approved before a contract can be legally awarded were cleared after the fact. This is not a procedural oversight. It is a deliberate, calculated violation of a clear presidential directive, executed through an illegal procurement in which the Solicitor General’s clearance was obtained only after the Contracts Committee had already approved a UGX 158.3 billion contract for an activity that was supposed to cost ordinary Uganda nothing. If a ministry can reverse the legal order of approvals, ignore a direct instruction that no Treasury funds be used, and commit public money to a service already earmarked for free delivery by the Russians, it exposes a system in which Presidential Directives are treated as Optional and public resources are treated as Private. Accountability demands that this contract be nullified, the responsible officials held to account, and the President’s directive enforced without further delay or further waste of taxpayers’ money.
