It's #WorldArthritisDay 💙
When people hear “arthritis”, they often picture achy knees or fingers.. but rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is much more than that.
Many people with RA live with persistent morning stiffness, swollen joints and chronic fatigue that can affect every part of daily life - often without anyone around them realising. However, early diagnosis and treatment make a real difference!

Today is #WorldArthritisDay! 🌍
Nearly 600 million people worldwide live with some form of arthritis. For many of them, “remission” on a lab report doesn’t always match how they actually feel day to day.
That’s why the Global Remission Coalition’s 2026 campaign, “Remission is More Than a Number,” is calling on clinicians, health systems and policymakers to look beyond test results and recognize that true remission also reflects patients’ lived experience.

A big shout out to Lupus Europe on #WorldArthritisDay for the amazing work you do - and for being part of the @globalremission !
🔴 Arthritis is the swelling & tenderness of one or more joints.
It’s an illness that comprises many conditions that affect the joints, tissues around the joint, & other connective tissues: #lupus, rheumatoid arthritis & osteoarthritis, to name a few

On #WorldArthritisDay, we stand with people living with RMDs, including #AxialSpondyloarthritis (#axSpA). Their voices, experiences and #RMDreams matter. Many challenges of living with an RMD are invisible. Let’s make them visible, understood and supported. #WAD2026 #EULAR

How long is the stench of the “sham” going to corrode the meaning, worth, and very essence of the Premier League?
Listening to commentary about Manchester City’s players matching the defiance of their ownership and triumphing in adversity.
Listening to fans chorusing the names of the men running the club, wearing masks or displaying banners of their faces and jibing: “We’re Man City, we’ll cheat when we want.”
Victory being framed as “a lovely moment,” a show of togetherness as though some grave injustice has been imposed on City, rather than their hierarchy being found by an independent commission to have orchestrated financial doping on an industrial scale.
Their opponents and the rest of us wondering if any of this actually matters now and how much of it ever did?
There can be no business as usual pretence. We need a full stop to the absurdity.
So if remission for people with chronic inflammatory conditions like #axSpA and #RheumatoidArthritis is more than a disease activity score, more than a number - what is it?
Find out what some of our patient advocates think!

Throwback to when @globalremission Chair @Neil_Betteridge and Maarten de Wit received the Carol Nachman Medal in Wiesbaden, Germany. 🏅
@eular_org PARE has published a feature on why this recognition matters for the patient community. As the piece highlights, having two patient advocates honored with one of rheumatology's most prestigious awards is a recognition of patient partnership itself.
Both served as EULAR vice-presidents representing PARE, with Maarten pioneering patient involvement in research and Neil championing patient advocacy and health policy.

Please join us for what promises to be a thought provoking discussion. Just how can patients be best supported to pursue remission when resources are scarce and access to innovative therapies may be highly restricted (or downright unavailable)?
Join the GRC next week for its webinar, "Pursuing Remission in Lower Income Countries," on September 28 at 1:00 pm CEST.
Global experts will explore the unmet needs of people living with chronic inflammatory conditions in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Speakers include:
⏺️ Andrew Briggs, physiotherapist and professor at Curtin University in Australia,
⏺️ Dzifa Dey, MD, FWACP, MSc, rheumatologist and founder of the Rheumatology Initiative, Ghana
