It's sweet to see that she can maintain the grid structure so well on plain paper. That's not trivial at all and speaks about nice prior work. I bet she'd appreciate kolam math!
That's very clever. I love extensions! Zero itself is an extension of natural numbers. If you can count from any integer, then what? I bet there could be other extensions of what it means to "number"! Thank you for sharing!

.@jamestanton We can split squares into (a square number of) smaller squares. We can split triangles into (a triangle number of) smaller triangles. These shapes are strictly self-similar. Do you know where to find more, besides the L-shape (as in the yellow diagram)?
