Statement of the Green Party of Ukraine
The Green Party of Ukraine (GPU) expresses its deep disappointment with recent statements by newly elected Australian Greens leader Senator David Shoebridge regarding the refusal to provide military assistance to Ukraine.
We sincerely thank the Australian Greens for supporting humanitarian missions and calling for a complete embargo on Russian oil. At the same time, we emphasise that refusing to provide defensive weapons to a country waging a just war of liberation is a dangerous illusion that plays into the hands of the aggressor, Vladimir Putin.
The Green Party of Ukraine emphasises:
Dogmatic pacifism kills. As part of the global environmental movement, we share a commitment to peace. However, pacifism in the face of a ruthless invader does not stop war — it leads to occupation and the destruction of an entire nation. Ukraine is exercising its legitimate right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The absurdity of a “UN veto”. Senator Shoebridge’s demand that arms supplies be authorised through the UN Security Council, where Russia holds the power of veto, is detached from reality. It is equivalent to asking a criminal for permission to call the police.
Russia’s war is causing massive ecocide. Russian forces deliberately destroy dams, mine millions of hectares of Ukraine’s fertile black soil, burn unique nature reserves and poison Europe’s water resources. Environmental protection is impossible without protecting the people who live in that environment. The only way to stop this ecological catastrophe is to stop the Russian army by force.
Unity among the global Greens. Green parties across Europe have long recognised this threat. They are at the forefront of political forces demanding maximum military assistance for Ukraine. We call on our Australian colleagues to follow the example of their European Green counterparts.
The Green Party of Ukraine welcomes the position taken by Australian Senator Sarah Hanson-Young Senator Sarah Hanson-Young and those members of the Australian Greens who have publicly spoken out in defence of Ukraine.
We call on David Shoebridge to reconsider his position, listen to the voices of Ukrainian environmentalists and support the provision of defensive weapons to Ukraine. Only victory over the aggressor can restore lasting peace and security to the European continent.

Albanese has wrought irreparable damage & trashed the once proud Labor brand. In times past, Labor offered a vision for the future & the constituents voted with optimism for Australia's future.
Labor now offers zionism genocide & warmongering.

Murmurs Labor is going to replace @AlboMP
If true, here's some advice - don't waste your time! Changing leader will not repair the trust & nor will it save you.
You've all voted with him & none of you can redeem yourselves - it's all over!
#AlboTheUndertaker has buried Labor!

This type of subservient U.S.A arse-licking by Australia exemplifies why there's so much disquiet and angst around Albanese's alleged leadership - and why he will probably lose his own seat in Grayndler.
He has a stubborn inability to sniff the wind and change course.

Each year, we will lose 1000 women to ovarian cancer. Tragically, 70% of women will be diagnosed in the late stages. It is the deadliest women’s cancer in this county.
Despite this, we invest very, very little in the research that could help develop the new diagnostic test or a new treatment.
I’m standing with patients, researchers and doctors to call for $20m to be invested each year in research. We have billions of $ in our Medical Research Future Fund that can and should be put to work.
I believe this is what Australians want us to spend money on; to provide hope for the women that will be diagnosed today and tomorrow.

The important things that we SHOULD be jumping up & down about are:
Climate change & corporations continuing to endanger the survival of our species.
War corporations sucking up $billions in public money.
Food & water safety/security.
Affordable healthcare.
Housing.
Poverty.

AUKUS sacrifices sovereignty to US warmongering and entangles us in a war that can’t be won.

Dan has spent 1,468 days in maximum-security. Nearly 4 years, for a crime he didn't commit.
He spent the first 19 months in solitary confinement and for 2 months his family didn't know why.
Enough is enough, it's time to #FreeDanDuggan.

Agree 💯.
They're not a patch on @barriecassidy
They're just an embarrassment to journalism.
#Insiders used to be compulsory viewing in our house. Since Speers joined we gave it a few tries in the early days but gave up as it's been corrupted beyond repair.
@abcnews is also a disaster with the exception of @TheLyonsDen and @latingle and @ABCmediawatch
There are however several excellent programs on Radio National, the last bastion of quality journalism left at the ABC.
Oh how the ABC has been slowly destroyed by right wing vested interests.

Last week Premier Malinauskas of South Australia came to Sydney to say, 'immigrants built Australia.'
We’ve been too polite in putting up with this demeaning abuse of our history.
The foundations of modern Australia - our law, language, parliament, towns, cities, farms and ports were built by British settlers. Convicts, emancipists, soldiers, officers, free settlers and assisted migrants from the British Isles built the country and gave us our great culture.
Migrants in recent decades have contributed but new migrants and settler stock should all revere and be grateful to the gutsy people who risked all to build Australia.

MIT published a brutally honest report on what AI is doing to students.
A committee of professors and students spent five months studying how AI changed learning on campus, and the findings read like a warning to every university on the planet.
Study groups are disappearing. Office hours are emptying out. Problem sets and take-home exams no longer prove anything, because AI can produce credible solutions to almost any written assignment in the undergraduate curriculum. Students who lean on chatbots lose mastery and confidence, and some slip into what the report calls cognitive surrender, reaching for AI at the first hint of struggle.
The numbers are rough. 46 percent of surveyed MIT undergrads use LLMs daily. 90 percent worry about their own overreliance. Undergrads who feel AI makes them replaceable now outnumber those who feel it makes them capable.
The committee's answer surprised me. They refused to fight AI with surveillance. The report calls AI detectors unreliable, says lockdown browsers feel like spying, and warns that policing students builds a classroom atmosphere of mutual distrust.
Instead, MIT wants to rebuild education around the things AI can't replace. That means oral exams, semester portfolios, in-person project work, and a required social component in every subject. The report even floats the idea of rethinking grades entirely, since without a GPA to optimize, much of the incentive to cheat with AI evaporates.
The committee warns professors against replacing undergrad research assistants with AI agents just because they're cheaper, because a university exists to grow people, not output.
The most famous tech school on earth admitted the machines broke its way of teaching. Its answer is more humans, not more software.

A short film that rams home the possible outcome of immigrants actually ‘going back to where they came from’
We are so lucky to have the benefits of immigration here. Our country has prospered culturally and economically.
Don’t let some vested interests in division and culture wars convince a few short-sighted and sad racist fcks that immigrants are a drain on our country’s prosperity.
It’s exactly the opposite. We all benefit from immigration.

How many people need to die before we recognise that the USA is not compatible with Western liberal democracy?
3.4 million mainly coloured have died as a result of US wars of retribution sanctions and restricted medical care after 911 @IPAusNet
I can’t believe we’re not joining France, Canada and the UK in banning trade with settlements on West Bank. All are entirely illegal under int’l law and as many Israeli leaders themselves say, the settlers are committed to ethnic cleansing. No one gives us credit for holding back

It’s not just the 17 US ‘facilities’ that the US military controls in Australia — there is so much more.
▪️They can at any time take over any civilian or military airport or seaport for the use of their military WITHOUT seeking permission from Australia.
▪️This access to aerial and seaports is meant to be for the delivery, storage, maintenance and pre-positioning of US defence equipment.
▪️They can do this, though they still need to notify authorities, obey the laws of Australia, and have obligations for consultation.
▪️Stupidly, Australia signed away this access with the ‘Force Posture Agreement’ — which would more accurately be titled the ‘Military Bases Agreement’.
▪️Australia’s sovereignty was negotiated away by Labor PM Julia Gillard — and signed away by Liberal PM Tony Abbott.
▪️Then came AUKUS to distract the public with submarines, while the bases quietly expanded. So much for democracy.
