Gavin Bazunu has a history of being a strong and brave character. This is his interview as a CHILD of just 16 years of age, making his debut for the Irish Men's team. A remarkable character. Tá grá againn duit Gavin ❤️🖤🤍💚🤍🧡 #StopTheGame Credit @AnnMarie_Keegan

GARVAGHY ROAD UPDATE This morning is showing the strength of a community standing together. The Orange Order march has not gone down the Garvaghy Road as planned this morning, with police indicating they are not currently in a position to facilitate it. This remains a very live situation. That position could change and there may still be an attempt to march later. Residents are continuing their peaceful protest and standing firm in the position they have held from the beginning. They do not want this march forced through their community. After an extraordinary 24 hours, the people of Garvaghy Road are still standing together. Their voices must be respected.

One Irish player, Gavin Bazunu, has made the courageous decision to refuse to face Israel tomorrow. He has led, and others should follow. There is still time. Solidarity with Palestine. 🇵🇸

Name the players who have shunned him… we want to know.
Extraordinary this from Brian Kerr: - Spoken with Gavin Bazunu who’s feeling quite low and shunned by players/FAI - Suggested to him it’d be better he left the squad for remainder of this window - Wasn’t told about meeting this morning - Wasn’t there for vote this morning (his vote was assumed by other players) 🎥 @VMSportIE

Cowards The Irish football team and the FAI had the chance to send a powerful message by refusing to take to the field against Israel. They chose to play. A disgraceful failure to take a stand when it mattered. Solidarity with the Palestinian people cannot just be words. There are moments when it has to mean action. This was one of them.

Hearing from several sources around Ireland hotel that agents are telling players you must play our you'll never play for a US owned team in the UK. How grim and predictable from faceless agents who profit in the background.

We stand with the people of the Garvaghy Road. Today’s decision is shocking and wrong. I was a teenager when Drumcree was at its height. I remember the violence, the sectarianism and a nationalist community being told that the demand from the Orange Order to march through their area mattered more than the wishes of the people who lived there. When I think back to those dark days, I think of all those whose lives were lost and the families who were left carrying that pain. Above all, I think of Richard, Mark and Jason Quinn. Three little boys killed as they slept in their beds in July 1998, amid the violence surrounding the Drumcree crisis. We cannot forget where that period took us. It was wrong then and it is wrong now. Nearly 30 years later, the desire of the Orange Order to march down the Garvaghy Road should not take precedence over the dignity, rights and clearly expressed wishes of the community who live there. We should be moving forward, not reopening wounds that took generations to heal. The people of the Garvaghy Road deserve to be heard. They deserve to be respected. We stand with them.

I have been asked to post anonymously to help ensure that the Irish Government is held to account for its treatment of whistleblowers. Micheál Martin’s Government—including Helen McEntee and Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan—has been made aware of the whistleblowers named below and their protected disclosures. Yet those who raise serious concerns continue to face silence, obstruction and, in some cases, alleged retaliation. Attempts to silence RTÉ or prevent the press from reporting matters of profound public importance are the actions associated with authoritarian government, not a healthy democracy. Ireland cannot credibly lecture Slovakia or any other European country about whistleblower protection while serious concerns about its own treatment of whistleblowers remain unanswered. This is about the public’s right to hear, read and examine the truth. The removal or suppression of important journalism concerning protected disclosures must not be allowed to stand. RTÉ must be free to report matters of legitimate public interest, and the Irish Government must be required to answer for its record. Ireland’s whistleblowers must be heard, its press must remain free, and those responsible for wrongdoing must be held to account. @MichealMartinTD @HMcEntee @OCallaghanJim

Here is the RTÉ programme that was removed from the RTÉ Player following official intervention—preventing the Irish public from seeing the investigation and judging the truth for themselves. The Irish Government stands accused of suppressing this important investigation and preventing the people of Ireland from hearing the truth about the treatment of whistleblowers. Ireland cannot credibly lecture Slovakia or the rest of Europe about whistleblower protection while those who speak out at home are silenced, obstructed, punished and, in some cases, even imprisoned. Just a short list...
