There’s a word in Hindi: parso. Interestingly, it means both “day after tomorrow” & “day before yesterday”
“Kal” means yesterday and tomorrow.
I always found these words fascinating as a kid, how they shift meaning based on tense. And somehow, it just works.

11. Explanatory Inversion:
Questions rest on unexamined assumptions, so always try flipping them. For instance, don’t just ask why there is poverty, ask why there is prosperity. This helps you realize poverty is the norm and the lack of it is the thing that needs to be explained.

When people think of menswear crafted with a high-degree of workmanship, they think of places such as France, Italy, and the UK. Some may think of Japan. But few will think of India, even though some of the most incredible workmanship is happening there now. Let me show you. 🧵

The numbers aren't fully in yet, but it's looking likely that the world, as a whole, fell below the population replacement rate in 2024. If not, it will probably be 2025.
This is 4-5 years earlier than The Lancet predicted in 2020.

“People are strange. They’ll lose it over a lukewarm coffee, a slow driver, a delayed train. But when it comes to the big stuff—the years slipping by, the dreams they let rot—they barely flinch. Maybe it’s just easier to throw a fit over the small stuff, vent it out where it’s safe. Because what’s the alternative? Admit the train delay isn’t the real problem? Realise you don’t even want to be on that train, that you’re headed in entirely the wrong direction? Because that’s the truth, isn’t it? Half of us are so busy raging at the small stuff, we never stop to see we’re not even on the right track.” - Unknown

Anyone have contacts at @DTDCIndia ? Not sure what to do. They've lost important documents in transit. A new customer care person answers calls each time, and doesn't know what was discussed last time. No sign my complaint has been escalated 30 days later. It's a horror show.
Been ~ 20 days since I lost an impt. package during transit by @DTDCIndia. After saying they returned it to sender, there's silence from them. Their customer service won't call me - all they do is send boilerplate emails. DON'T EVER courier via these unprofessional jerks.

Agree with all points @kalapian_ is making and it makes me sad! I am so much in love with so many parts of India but at this point I am not at all bullish about inbound tourism into India. Too many problems - pollution, traffic - compounded with very high prices.
Domestic tourism in India is overpriced. The post COVID 'revenge tourism' covered up things for a while. The trend to travel abroad especially to SE Asia will only accelerate now. Our domestic destinations and products can't compete. We are already screwed in inbound - numbers are not at 2019 levels in 2024.
General garbage and poor hygiene everywhere + horrendous logistics + a genuine reputation of negative safety for women. Terrible loss for the country as tourism is an easy way to add to GDP and generate employment.

I really enjoy "Kaun Banega Crorepati," a show that blends intelligence and entertainment. It adds to my knowledge, and I feel very happy whenever my answers are correct.
In a recent episode, Neeraj Saxena was the fastest to answer in the "Fastest Finger" round and took the hot seat.
He sat very calmly, without shouting, dancing, crying, raising his hands, or hugging Amitabh. Neeraj is a scientist, a Ph.D., and a Vice-Chancellor of a university in Kolkata. He has a pleasant and simple personality. He considers himself fortunate to have worked with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and mentioned that initially, he thought only about himself, but under Kalam's influence, he began thinking about others and the nation as well.
Neeraj started playing. He used the audience poll once, but since he had the "Double Dip" lifeline, he got the chance to use it again. He answered all the questions with ease, and his intelligence was impressive. He won ₹3,20,000 and an equivalent bonus amount, and then there was a break.
After the break, Amitabh announced, "Let's proceed, Dr. Sahab. Here comes the eleventh question..." Just then, Neeraj said, "Sir, I would like to quit."
Amitabh was surprised. Someone playing so well, with three lifelines still left, and a good chance to win a crore (₹1,00,00,000), was quitting? He asked, "This has never happened before..."
Neeraj calmly replied, "Other players are waiting, and they are younger than me. They should also get a chance. I have already won a lot of money. I feel 'what I have is enough.' I do not desire more."
Amitabh was stunned, and there was a moment of silence. Then, everyone stood up and applauded him for a long time.
Amitabh said, "We have learned a lot today. It is rare to see a person like this."
To be #honest, it is the first time I have seen someone with such an #opportunity before them, who thinks about others getting a chance and considers what they have as more than enough. I mentally saluted him.
Today, people are only chasing #money. No matter how much they earn, there is no satisfaction, and the #greed never ends. They are losing out on family, sleep, happiness, #love, and #friendship while chasing money.
In such times, people like Dr. Neeraj Saxena come as a reminder. In this age, satisfied and selfless people are hard to find.
After he quit the game, a girl took the hot seat and shared her story: "My father threw us out, including my mother, just because we are three daughters. Now, we live in an orphanage..."
I thought, if Neeraj had not quit, being the last day, no one else would have gotten a chance. Because of his sacrifice, this poor girl got an opportunity to earn some money.
In today's world, people are not ready to give up even a single penny from their inheritance. We see fights and even murders over it. Selfishness is rampant. But this example is an exception.
God resides in humans like Neeraj, who think about others and the country. I will never forget this great person in my life. I am happy to have had the chance to write about such a unique personality today.
When your needs are fulfilled, you should stop and give others a chance. Let go of selfishness, and everyone will be #happy. This is the lesson I learned. I have always admired such individuals and believe that writing honestly about them is necessary for the betterment of society.🙏
