The grind continues to cast doubt on whether it can keep grinding. The tape in ES steadily chips away at higher prices, grinding upward even as we keep encountering headlines that, in other market environments, might bring us lower—but not in this one. There is no momentum in ES, and the little that exists in NQ definitely makes it the better tape for day traders to look for opportunities right now. RTY slipped a bit last night but has quickly regained its losses, even with rates creeping higher again this morning. RTY is likely to be choppy with rates stuck in the upper part of their recent range. Bulls have to be happy that RTY is at least holding onto its rally. If it looks to make new highs again, that only adds to the overall grind higher across the indexes. Year-end is near, rollover is upon us, and with the markets having a massive year, it's going to be really tough to see any real rotations lower that can be sustained. I mentioned in yesterday's note that I could see us making a short-term high into the end of rollover, which is still over a week away before we move into the March 2025 contract as the front month. Then maybe we start to see markets rotate a bit. Today, we're coming in at new highs, making it tough to fade or even buy a dip. If we rotate off the highs, it may just sit there. These types of tapes never make anyone rich, but they love to take from those who force the issue.
