When you are going through trials 👇 memorize these scriptures and repeat them to yourself. Put them around your house and work station so they will constantly be reminders to you.
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 34:19
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose,
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
1 Peter 5:10
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
1 Peter 1:7
So that the tested genuineness of your faith--more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire--may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
2 Cor 12:9
My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.
James 1:2-4
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Romans 5:3-4
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings knowing that suffering produces endurance and endurance produces character, and character produces hope and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
John 16:33
I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
James 1:12
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.
Romans 5:18
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
This is disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. And we still go into billions more debt each year.
My coworker's mother passed away last November.
She left her modest $190,000 house to him clear and free, no mortgage, completely paid off after thirty years of factory work.
He moved into the home in January to finally settle the estate.
Two weeks ago, a letter arrived from the state Medicaid estate recovery office.
Because his mother spent four months in a rehabilitation facility before she passed, the state quietly slapped a retroactive $114,000 lien against the property title.
He called the state health department, frantic, asking how a hospital stay could bankrupt an inherited home that had no mortgage balance.
The caseworker sighed and told him:
"Federal law requires state programs to claw back healthcare costs from deceased estates. The house cannot be sold or transferred until the balance is cleared in full."
He offered to pay a monthly settlement.
They said no. The full $114,000 is due in 60 days, or they foreclose on the property at a public auction.
A lifetime of working-class savings, wiped out overnight by a retroactive healthcare lien.
You don't own generational wealth.
You're just holding a property title until the state finds a legal mechanism to repossess it the moment you die.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Because the house is worth $190,000 and the average house sale price is over$440,000, the house likely qualifies for the "modest value" exemption. (Check county values)

MOTHER OF HERO SPEAKS OUT 🙏🏼
Kaylub Giamanco’s mom just described the phone call she got moments after her son stopped the school shooter in Bend, Oregon.
“He said, Mom, I just shot and kiIIed somebody.”
She asked him to tell her about it.
“A man went into my daughter’s school and shot kids. And I looked at him point blank and I shot and kiIIed him, Mom.”
She told him he saved a lot of lives.
His answer: “Mom, I couldn’t save them all.”
He was driving home from lunch when he heard the shots. He pulled up onto the grass, grabbed his gun, and followed the gunman back into the school. He army-crawled through a window the shooter had already blasted out and ended the attack.
Three kids and a teacher were already gone. His own daughters were safe. Now he’s struggling with the ones he couldn’t reach and asking himself what he could have done differently.
This is what happens when a good man with a gun runs toward the sound of gunfire instead of waiting for someone else to show up.
THAT is what stopped more of them from dying.
Kaylub Giamanco is a hero.
Please pray for this beautiful girl and her family. Please donate if you can. Every little bit helps.
🚨MEET SAYLOR GRAHAM. SHE’S ONLY SEVEN YEARS OLD. AND SHE’S FIGHTING TO RECOVER AFTER BEING SHOT IN THE FACE AT SCHOOL.
I want everyone to take a moment to look at this beautiful little girl.
Her name is Saylor Graham, and she is one of the youngest survivors of yesterday’s horrific mass shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon.
Saylor, who uses a wheelchair and already lives with significant medical challenges, was inside the classroom when 16-year-old Griffin J. John II opened fire with a 12-gauge shotgun, killing three children and a 25-year-old teacher.
Saylor survived.
And tonight, there is some encouraging news.
According to the Bend Police Department’s latest update, Saylor received lifesaving treatment at the scene and is now hospitalized at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, where she remains in serious but stable condition.
This little girl and her family were already fighting battles long before a gunman entered her classroom.
According to a GoFundMe established to support her recovery, Saylor has numerous existing medical needs. Her parents are both self-employed, and caring for their daughter has already significantly limited their ability to work.
Now they’re facing an unimaginable additional burden.
Hospital expenses. Travel. Lodging. Lost income. And the uncertainty of what Saylor’s recovery will require in the weeks and months ahead.
I’m sharing the fundraiser below for anyone who would like to help.
If you cannot contribute financially, I’m asking you to do something else.
Pray for Saylor. Pray for her parents. Pray for her medical team. And pray for every family whose life was forever changed yesterday. Please also share her story and her fundraiser everywhere.
Four innocent people didn’t get to come home. Saylor did survive, and I’m praying this beautiful little girl continues to fight her way back to the life she deserves.
God bless you, sweet Saylor. ❤️🙏
😂 oh dear.
I thought you guys were all for "hard things". Welcome to the "hard things".

One wonders about homeschooling, too.
I cannot imagine having my wife simultaneously be nursing a baby, having morning sickness, dealing with teenagers, dealing with toddlers, cooking meals, cleaning the house, and somehow managing to teach school.
That seems ridiculous.

If feminists want to argue that aborting baby boys for simply being boys is ok then they have admitted to the following things being true
- gender is defined at birth
- women have become the oppressive class, since killing someone solely because of sex in definitionally oppressive.
- you are dumb beyond words for wanting to kill men but still somehow can’t help but have sex with them.

Life skills are what you teach kids in addition to things like math and grammar. Teaching life skills is the absolute bare minimum. If you're homeschooling, it's just part of the much broader curriculum.

No, let’s not return to the Women Can Have It All lie they peddled to all us millennials as kids
Having babies will interfere with career goals unless you immediately give the babies to a nanny or daycare to raise
While I wouldn't necessarily call having children a "trade-off" (as if it were just one of two or more equally valid choices) I agree that anyone telling you having children is "easy" is lying or just has an easy baby. Let them parent a bit longer than 5 minutes and they'll see.
Absolutely everything is a trade off
Kids are a trade off
Careers are a trade off
Getting married is a trade off
Staying single is a trade off
It’s crazy to lie to people and claim any life choice is 100% rainbows and roses, and people aren’t usually dumb enough to believe that anyways
“Kids are a trade off but they’re worth it” is a more honest assessment (and a more convincing one!)

The Humming Meadow now floats! Or at least a piece of it does. 😊 We now have a floating candle featuring a sunflower and sweet little bee.
I hand-pour each of these candles right here at our home in Vermont. (My father-in-law doesn’t get to have all the fun! 😉)
Please pray for this family and help financially if you can.
Two of my former @BCS_MN students were in a tragic car accident this week: Stephen Clayton (MDiv '24) and Katie O'Shea Clayton (BA '25). Stephen and his son David are with the Lord. Please pray for Katie and John (her 11-month-old son) and her unborn child. Here's an opportunity to help a widow in her affliction (James 1:27):

Stephen was one of the finest men I helped to train—above-reproach character and highly competent. He came to my home on Saturday mornings to work out probably over 100 times. (We did a lot of weighted Murphs together.) I last talked to him when he attended our church's conference on the home nearly two months ago. He was full of joy and courage as he served as a lead pastor. He was a good man. He faithfully finished his race—far sooner than we expected.
God is meticulously sovereign over a bouncing trailer tire. I think of Sarah Edwards’s letter to her daughter Esther shortly after Jonathan Edwards died from a smallpox inoculation:
“My very dear child, What shall I say? A holy and good God has covered us with a dark cloud. O that we may kiss the rod, and lay our hands on our mouths! The Lord has done it. He has made me adore his goodness, that we had him so long. But my God lives; and he has my heart. O what a legacy my husband, and your father, has left us! We are all given to God; and there I am, and love to be.”

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!
By Rudyard Kipling. His only son died during World War I at eighteen.
Heartbreaking. Get rid of surrogacy!
One of the most shocking stories of #surrogacy #exploitation I've ever read:
- A single mother of three working as a waitress and struggling to feed her kids
- Living with a physically abusive ex-boyfriend
- Answered a wealthy gay couple's Facebook post. They agreed to pay her a measly £60-£90/month and promised to help her move out of her abuser's home (they didn't)
- Paid her own travel to clinics for nearly two years
- So poor she couldn't buy her children Christmas dinner
- Once pregnant, the monthly payments never came save one lump sum of £500
- Lost her job after time off to recover from bleeding during the pregnancy, had nothing to eat
- Gay couple blamed her hormones when she cried about her broken radiator
- After ultrasounds they took her to expensive restaurants, then sent her home to feed her kids rice. Her therapist: they are "buying you with that food."
- The men swapped in a new therapist who scolded her for not trusting them and exploited her childhood abandonment and homelessness to manipulate her
- Never saw a single test result. The men even dictated the postpartum underwear in her hospital bag
- In her seventh month she was bleeding and the baby wasn't growing properly. The buyers didn't come, they extended their month-long European vacation
- After her C-section, she was shut in a back room while they showed off the baby to visitors
- When she refused to sign the discharge, both fathers and both grandmothers screamed at her as she lay in bed, called her a baby thief, and threatened to take her other children and send her to jail. A lawyer threatened criminal charges. After six hours, she signed
- The biological father got that signature by promising her money. She never received it
- Left on the street with her C-section wound and a dead phone, and had to charge it at a café to call an Uber home
- They promised she would always be part of his life. She hasn't seen him in two years.
But she says the worst part is… she only got to hold her baby for 10 minutes.
This is surrogacy. Shut it down.

WE ARE THE BARBARIANS
So many people object to live streaming the public execution of a murderer because it is “barbaric.“
But we are barbaric. The thing is, we are nice barbarians. We are first world savages. We have convinced ourselves that we are the good guys – that we have the moral high ground.
Because we only murder our babies behind closed doors. Because we never have to actually see the bloody handiwork of justice. Because we can keep all of the filth of our society out of our sight and pretend that it doesn’t exist.
At least until it stabs our daughter in the neck with a knife on a train.
We think that we are righteous because our bloody hands have never hurt anybody’s feelings.
We think that we are vegans because we bought the meat in a package at the grocery store.
Friends, the rabble in a town in the wild west knew enough to hang a murderer, and to do it quickly.
“Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of men among them are given fully to do evil.” - Ecc. 8:11
We slaughter infants and call it “medical care.” We lock people up like animals for decades, force their victims to pay for their support, and call it “mercy.” We release monsters onto the street so that they can rape and kill again and call it “justice.” And we withhold justice from victims and call it “civilization.”
We pretend that letting Lindsay Clancy walk free is kindness, but hanging her in public is barbarism. That we should view her with compassion and view her children as collateral damage.
But the truth is the exact opposite. A truly just civilization punishes crime, swiftly, and with a punishment commensurate with the crime. A truly just civilization is less worried about optics and more worried about righteousness.
“The execution of justice is joy for the righteous, But is terror to the workers of iniquity.” - Pr. 21:15
It tells the righteous: “You heard about those innocent children that Lindsay slaughtered? Well now you can livestream the video and see. That has been dealt with. Those kids got justice.”
It tells the wicked: “You wanna murder your kids? Really? Because this is what’s going to happen to you if you do.”
It tells would-be victims: “We actually want to protect you and, if you are mistreated, you will be avenged.”
And it tells the people who are more worried about the appearance of righteousness than the substance thereof: “We don’t care about your feelings. We won’t be controlled by your emotions. We care about doing what is right before God.”
“Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man.” - Gen. 9:6
Until we recognize this, we are not “pro-life.”
Being nicer than God is actually just a roundabout form of cruelty.
We are the barbarians. We are just nice about it.
