American Made Giveaway 🇺🇸
Christmas is in 67 days! We’re excited give away over $1,500 in American Made goods from small businesses across Vermont, Idaho, Virginia, Indiana, and Alabama. We’ve teamed up to give away a handcrafted leather rifle stock cover, set of hand carved Dreamware utensils, a beautiful wool pillow encased with organic American-grown cotton, an elegant Farmhouse Pottery taper candle holder, and a box of pasture-raised chicken or pork (your choice).
To enter for a chance to win something from one of these amazing small businesses:
1. Follow @thewoolshire, @OldHollowTree, @FrontPorchGoods, @Mathew_Winters1, and @polderfamily
2. Like and share this post
3. Comment and tell us what you’d be most excited to win from this incredible lineup
The purpose of this giveaway is to spread some cheer (there will be 5 winners!) and also to help each of you give quality, American Made gifts this year! It’s convenient to go shop at big box stores, but we all know how disappointing that usually turns out to be. Shop small and support real families; we know you’ll be thrilled with your purchases.
Bookmark this post so you can easily come back and shop with the small businesses that brought you this giveaway. The link to each of their websites is in their bio.
Open to the 48 contiguous states. Giveaway ends at 11:59pm EST on October 24, 2026.

Some of the hives have succumbed to the cold. Some are thriving.
It really does come down to breed.
No Saskatraz or Carniolians have died yet. They are hardier. Only a couple Italians and Golden West perished so far.

Info from the interwebs: During WWII, when the U.S. faced severe rubber shortages, scientists heavily studied rabbitbrush as an emergency substitute. While it produces high-quality natural rubber, the extraction process proved too expensive for peacetime commercialization.

In the garden of life filled with frostbitten tomatoes, be like the strawberry that survives all dangers to provide a delicious taste of Summer in October.

Thank you. I don’t know why, but today was one of the best days for our little family business, Humming Meadow.
There were no sales or promotions, but you said “I need a candle. I need a shawl. A mug sounds good.”
Thank you for your outrageous kindness.
“Mama, can you tie this fairy wrap for me?”
We’re building fairy houses in the Meadow after school today. Gotta make sure the fairy fridge is stocked with flower petal leaf wraps.

Sunrise in the valley, in the forest. Chilling frost in mountains, later. These are the beautiful extremes of New Hampshire right now. Our area is a bit barren in the aftermath of what everyone calls "peak foliage" - but THIS is the beauty to be found right now, if you go... in. If you venture INTO the woods. If you climb UP into the boreal forests. Many of the leaves are now on the ground. And it smells so, so good. This, right now, is my favorite time of the year. I took both of these photos in the White Mountains region, near Mt. Washington.

My kids discovered that Dixon Ticonderoga pencils are almost the exact same color as this mug and they are extremely pleased with themselves.
The Humming Meadow now floats! Or at least a piece of it does. 😊 We now have a floating candle featuring a sunflower and sweet little bee.
I hand-pour each of these candles right here at our home in Vermont. (My father-in-law doesn’t get to have all the fun! 😉)

My father stopped by this morning.
“Did your friends on the internet buy any candles today?”
Humming Meadow is a family business, with him making the majority of the candles lately.
He always asks and I always get to tell him “Yes.”
Thank you for that.

This week’s discounted limited bundle from Humming Meadow is all pumpkin themed: our Halloween mug, a beeswax pumpkin candle, and a huge jack-o-lantern sticker.
$60 but we only pack ten at this price so once they’re gone, they’re gone. 🎃
Took the Sapling on a drive to try to get her to take a nap. That didn’t work but it was still an hour well spent on this beautiful autumn day.
