Nursing isn’t one thing, it’s everything. It is scientific knowledge, critical thinking, combined with empathy, the art of caring, a deep understanding of assessments, evaluations, interventions & a lifelong commitment to learning, listening & understanding.

Totally agree. One approach which could fundamentally shift how one would write a guideline is to frame recommendations as being "thresholds for discussion" versus "thresholds for treatment" Doesn't work for everything but the concept in general is a good one.

Absolutely. But guidelines could be designed radically differently, to provide patient centred guidance and best available evidence.

As long as #HCPs keep “coping”, what impetus will drive systems/structure change?
We deliver great care in Canada, if you're in the right place at the right time. But we deliver good care despite the system, not because of it. Structural/administrative reforms are needed to make it easier for our dedicated caregivers 👩⚕️👨⚕️ to care. #cdnhealth

Kenney’s nurse cuts are dangerous & misguided. When we cut nursing care, costs go up elsewhere in the system, even as the quality of care declines.

A reminder **there is no shortage of family doctors** rather a shortage in COMMUNITY-BASED PRIMARY CARE
Many job choices for GP's in BC (eg hospitalist, emerg, etc) & LEAST attractive incl. working in the community.
CHANGE THE JOB➡️get more primary care
