In the PhAST technology, light serves as a synthetic neurotransmitter, by combining a calcium-dependent luciferase on pre-synapses with channelrhodopsin on post-synapses, which is illustrated in C. elegans. @NMSBlab nature.com/articles/s41592-0…

It was a fantastic and exciting rollercoaster that got ignited 7 years ago on a lab trip with @wormsenselab, canoeing in Tomales Bay and collecting marine, bioluminescent memories. Thanks to all coauthors involved and colleagues for their illuminating discussions, and reagents.

Finally, we push the system to obtain real time 3D reconstruction of low photon samples via light field microscopy by combining 2 neural networks to show that bioluminescent samples can be imaged and de-noised in 3D in a manner comparable to fluorescence microscopy ... 6/6

If you are at Embl this week for #EESPhaseSeparation, stop by @neusanfeliu’s poster and learn about what large titin and stomatin homologs have to do with your favorite biological process and neuronal mechanotransduction.
Excited to be at the #EESPhaseSeparation Conference at #Embl. Do you want to hear about LLPS role in mechanosensation? Come to visit our poster #136 @NMSBlab @ICFOnians
