The wing walk is done! He absolutely loved it (apart from the bumpy taxiing). Huge thanks to everyone who helped him raise over £1,200 for NASS and NASS Bristol. He's now wondering whether barrel rolls and loop-the-loops should be next... 😄🛩️

The eye is not an isolated organ - it's a window into systemic health and a meeting point for #oralmedicine, #infectiousdiseases, #immunology, #sexualhealth, #neurology, #rheumatology and many other specialities...
This year I had a busy 4-day conference journey , from @BISOM_Official at @RCPspaces, to @BritishHIVAssoc x @BASHH_UK, to @RheumatologyUK - reinforcing the same message again and again: patients benefit when ophthalmologists step beyond the clinic, build rapid referral pathways, recognise systemic red flags early, and co-manage complex disease across specialties.

From #Behçet’s, #sarcoidosis and mucous membrane #pemphigoid, to ocular HSV, to #uveitis in #AxSPA , these conditions all sit firmly at the eye-systemic axis. The eye may be small, but the conversations it opens are whole-body conversations.

Enough people in the UK live with Axial SpA to fill Wembley twice, but 90% of the public haven't heard of the condition.
This needs to change.

AS patients like me wait an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis - risking irreversible damage to our spines.
This delay does more than harm our health. @NASSexercise have shown it causes a £3.1bn a year hit to the U.K economy as we work and earn less.
AS is more common than Parkinson’s and ME combined, but 9 in 10 people know nothing about it.
I’ve written for @Daily_Express on how reducing the delay to diagnosis will give thousands their lives back and help get Britain working again.

On #WorldASDay thank you to @BBCLondonNews for covering my story.
Sadly, it's nothing out of the ordinary. I've met people who've waited 30 years for an AS diagnosis.
That's why in September, I'm climbing 8 peaks in 8 days to raise money for @NASSexercise.
The more people who know about inflammatory arthritis, the less time patients will wait for the treatment they need.

Many know Charlie Robards’ Hitting AS for Six- it’s resonated with hundreds. Readers call it "eye-opening" and "properly relatable" about living with axial SpA. Charlie candidly balances a love of sport with chronic pain. All profits go to NASS: charlierobards.com #AxialSpA
