If you want benefits, you can just Google symptoms, go to your GP and get loads of cash, apparently. I can only imagine the hours of research that went into this.

ALT Some will be genuinely mentally ill. Some will simply be skiving — a fair few, I would guess, because if it’s possible to get extra benefits by claiming conditions that GPs routinely “sign off” (the symptoms to claim can be found on Google and nobody can prove you don’t have them), then it would be a wonder if hundreds of thousands hadn’t taken advantage. But beyond the skivers will be a larger number who have honestly persuaded themselves, or been persuaded, that their problems are serious enough to warrant leaving the world of work.
