This study of 77 females and males in Uruguay takes a deep dive into the uriobiome and compares bacterial diversity, intracellular bacterial communities and people with and without urinary symptoms. The study concurs with many previous studies that highlight the incompetence of traditional culture based diagnostics and the need for new microbiome based testing and treatments. Read here:

"We wanted to make sure to bring that focus back to the idea that we treat patients and not tests" Dr Lenore Ackernam @DrLAckerman
@JamesMaloneLee3 had been telling urologists this for YEARS. Finally.... thank you!

“While molecular diagnostic methods have transformed our understanding of the urinary microbiome and implicated more complex bacterial communities in the etiology of UTI symptoms,59, 60, 74 their role in the diagnosis and management of UTI remains unclear.”

This UTI research used nanogels combined with a special peptide to push gentamicin inside infected bladder wall cells to clear the infection.
The researchers say nanogel delivers about 36% more antibiotic inside cells compared to standard antibiotic delivery methods. It is also quick releasing and exhibits low toxicity, causing minimal harm to cells.

Our brand new international communication team's first meeting was a huge success!
We are dedicated to facilitating open dialogue and maintaining a global network to stop #UTI
To that extent, we've grown our communications team!
We are all so excited to expand the platforms we use and the content we make, to connect with and grow our community ❤️
Stay tuned!

Nice to know that all my screaming about the horror of #cUTI has been heard.

No, we are not ahead of the game, we are 90 years behind. The microscopic method was developed in 1928 but was phased out in the 1970s. The replacement central laboratory methods and dipsticks were introduced without proper validation. A terrible blunder.

Wow this is really interesting- we can get it right in pets but not humans. Thanks for sharing.
Is it common practice in veterinary to use this method then or are you ahead of the game?

It's the 3rd anniversary of Professor Malone-Lee's passing. Along with his book 'Cystitis Unmasked', he left behind a wealth of information here on his Twitter page.
His huge contribution to UTI research and his kindness and respect towards his patients will never be forgotten. Thank you to all who continue his work🙏❤️

“The bladder itself is generally considered a sterile environment” - Science shows the normal bladder the antithesis of sterile. Interpret that with the lense of Darwinian evolution and the entire urine culture edifice crashes to a pile of rubble. We must rethink UTI diagnosis.

The diagnosis of Interstitial Cystitis is used to explain away the symptoms of UTI when the urine culture is negative. The urine culture is incompetent at excluding infection.

@JamesMaloneLee3 Hi professor. I was wondering why most people are getting told they have interstitial cystitis when alot of us only started having symptoms after a uti infection?
