I welcome £1m for Community Transport, but 13 new minibuses replace just 13 of 27 priority vehicles. As a disabled person in rural Tyrone, I know accessible transport is essential to independence. We need long-term funding, not just new vehicles. #AccessibleTransport #Disabled – at Omagh, Northern Ireland

I know MLAs don't set their own pay. But the contrast is stark. Their pay can rise while disabled people and those in poverty are told there's no money for basic support. If the system can ensure politicians don't fall behind, why is it acceptable for us to? – at Greencastle, Northern Ireland

Something different at Awakening Tyrone in Omagh 🌿 A day that opened my eyes, heart and mind. Some experiences I'll keep personal. I also spoke for @DPACNIreland & @Dis_PPL_Protest on welfare cuts and assisted dying. A few access issues, but a fantastic day. 💜 – at Gortin, Northern Ireland

The social care system here is not fit for purpose. Disabled people and older people who use services should be the priority for Government and trusts. Instead priority is cutting costs and keeping private providers happy. Political failure writ large. xitter.cf/1kilroywashere/status/…

This would be a wonderful legacy for David. #ReopenILF
Been thinking of a fitting tribute to my friend. David was a recipient of the Independent Living Fund, a Fund he fought to keep. His death means a step closer to the ILF disappearing. Reopening ILF to new people will honour his life and legacy. @RobbieButlerMLA @healthdpt

This is a disgraceful response from an elected representative. Dismissing Disabled people’s legitimate access concerns because pedestrianisation suits everyone else is ableism. Disabled people will not accept being designed out of Belfast city centre.
The car parks around the boundary of the city centre were designated for blue badge holders only, so we repurposed the car parks for that reason.

DPAC NI spokesperson Dermot Devlin said that "many disabled people can only walk or wheel short distances". "We need to park or get off public transport close to our destinations."
The first All Ireland Fleadh in Belfast ended in the early hours of Monday morning with organisers saying they were overwhelmed by the positive response they received from all communities. bbc.in/4zcZwLS

There’s a very apt expression for this post - Don’t piss down our necks and tell us it’s raining.

How the fuck is this even a story. @Telegraph Scrapping the barrel to find new ways of whipping up hate. Discounts on sex toys no less. How very dare we.
Private discount schemes aimed at disabled people are offering price cuts on holidays, luxury items and even adult toys, according to an investigation by the Telegraph. Critics have raised concerns that the discounts could incentivise people to claim benefits, while bosses of the schemes say the discounts are privately funded and helps to offset the additional costs people with disabilities face.  Coronation Street star Cherylee Houston, who raises awareness and advocates for disabled people, joined Charlotte Hawkins, Richard Madeley and Angela Rippon on the GMB sofa this morning. She explained that many people with disabilities not only face extra costs, but have also been subject to cuts.

As co signatories of this letter, snd member of the original co-design group in 2020, we agree with everything DPAC Northern Ireland has said in this statement. It's simply not good enough and will set us back another generation. – at Golan, Northern Ireland
Nearly 500 organisations and individuals raised serious concerns about Northern Ireland’s Disability Strategy. Minister Lyons responded by telling Deaf and Disabled people we are wrong. We need a properly funded Strategy developed with us, not for us. cutt.ly/syudqhii

Andy Burnham may offer a different tone, but disabled people need more than words. Protect PIP, fund services properly and stop designing employment policies without disabled people involved. cutt.ly/OyrWEZAp #DisabilityRights #DPAC #MyWayAccess
