Tomorrow marks 13 years since the first commit to the Elixir repo. And today we celebrate by announcing that Elixir is, officially, a gradually typed language:

Machine Learning in Elixir is super fun! I’m only in chapter 1 so I keep running into arcane magical concepts that the book promises to explain later. I am happily and dutifully following along in Livebook and things are happening!

“Throughout this book, you’ll use Livebook—Elixir’s interactive code notebooks—to work with data and train models in an interactive and reproducible way.” — Machine Learning in Elixir by Sean Moriarity ❤️ That is exactly what I wanted to hear.

How about a limit of some ratio of texts per political donation? Even 10 to 1 would be better than this.
So. Back to the gopher protocol and plan files?

I think it's a problem if we can't separate important events with people. Columbus doesn't have some kind of copyright ownership with discovering America, and given what we know about him we definitely should not be celebrating him. Remove or at least rename #ColumbusDay

This study is comically bad. They split the sample into 24 groups and, as expected, find one that has a p<.05 positive effect. Even dumber is the method: there's no control group. They just measure whether deaths within 25 weeks after vax are concentrated in the first 28 days.
Today, we released an analysis on COVID-19 mRNA vaccines the public needs to be aware of. This analysis showed an increased risk of cardiac-related death among men 18-39. FL will not be silent on the truth. Guidance: bit.ly/3ClKF5f Press Release: bit.ly/3T8bQH8

thread:
In spring 2020, when other countries closed all schools, Sweden kept primary schools open, with mandatory in-person attendance and without protective measures such as testing or quarantines. Sweden then told the world COVID didn't spread in schools. It wasn't true. 🧵

Replying to @VirpiFlyg
Despite its flaws, the Sweden-Finland comparison made the news around the world: Keeping schools open resulted in no higher rate of infection in children. The news articles didn't note that keeping schools open resulted in a much higher rate of ICU admission.
