Today is the day we say goodbye to my childhood home. Soon to be demolished by Georgia Power for the data centers. Thank you to ALL of you, we wouldn’t be so gracious about it if it weren’t for all the support.

Texas is staring down an 11-gigawatt AI data center campus in the Panhandle.
Project Matador has already secured a state permit for 6 gigawatts of natural-gas power generation.
A project this massive raises serious questions about the strain on Texas water, power, and rural communities.
Though currently paused, if restarted it could start draining resources and harming communities in the panhandle.

The Trump admin has always sided with big tech on the question of whether AI training is fair use, so their position here isn’t a surprise
But it seems notable they have weighed in on this lawsuit at all. I suspect they wouldn’t bother if they didn’t think the NYT might win.

1988: Four days before Christmas, a terrorist bomb rips apart a Boeing 747 six miles over Scotland, raining bodies, wreckage, and debris across the small market town of Lockerbie. The horrifying attack, which killed 270 men, women, and children, would launch one of the world’s largest manhunts, spanning decades across dozens of countries.

We (@TheBandCracker) have nearly 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Largely because we were lucky and have had a few tracks somehow weave their way into the fabric of popular culture. Whether its recurrent radio play, random 90s playlists, algorithmic suggestions on streaming, and (probably the key driver)significant TV/Streaming/Movie placements (classic example 2 minutes of Low inPerks of a Wallflower). Over the last few years there has been a trend of private equity buying music catalogs. Much of the big stuff is gone or overvalued at this point, so now you have these lower tier private equity people or their brokers coming around and looking at catalogs like ours. Sometimes just for the hell of it I take the call. Invariably it's super low ball offer and I will respond with my fairly educated estimate of the net present value. It's usually 5-10x their opening offer. Friends If you had a few hits in the 90s do not sell your catalog without getting a real valuation from a neutral party. This does not include someone brokering the deal.
