Next time a stranger at a bar asks if you're a patriot, do not say yes.
Chase Hughes walks through a hypothetical recruitment, and it starts with someone telling you he loves your podcast and then asking whether you'd consider yourself a patriot. That first yes is what he builds everything else on - your identity.
Next he asks if you'd be willing to look at something that might be uncomfortable. Then he shows you your browsing history and webcam captures from your phones and computers, offers to keep it all out of the public eye, and puts $20,000 a month on the table. All you have to do is keep a few people off the show and leave a few things out, for your country.
What gets me is that the protection covers more than your reputation. It also hands you a story you can live with, where every concession counts as service.
"They don't build influencers. They find the ones who are already successful and recruit them."
Apparently the benefits package includes getting to keep calling yourself independent.
So be honest, has anybody here ever been approached with an indecent proposal?
Trump is one of the worst human beings that’s ever lived
😳 Trump loses it and SNAPS at a string of reporters, says Ilhan Omar might "go to jail," calls Somalia "a shit house," and boasts that thanks to a new program he announced today Americans "will make millions of dollars by turning others in" during absolutely deranged Oval Office event
Here's a supercut:

why would people openly say they’re a single issue voter and that issue is the continued allegiance to a foreign apartheid state that’s committed a genocide. how out of touch can you be?!

So even if in reality AES was leading, you can now have CNN say he's not which will affect polls, and affect how people view the race. I.e. if he's not gonna win I just won't bother showing up to vote.
It's an extreme example, but very much their game plan

Once you have convinced someone that, Abdul is trailing Rodgers in the betting, whether that's technically true or not (how many individual accounts buying in one way or another), you now force people to view the issue through the lens you have provided.

Well my friend, when you are able to set odds on the likely hood of a political event taking place means you get to determine a sort of reality to view the world through.
By partnering with legacy media, they can further embbed themselves into our collective perpetice of reality

I don’t think that refineries angered Musk. It was the killing of his bot army that got him pissed off

Replying to @laraseligman @WSJ
So, he sells product to the US government and then still orders how it will operate? Something new Congress and administration should carefully investigate and take into consideration when deciding on new contracts.

Incredible scoop by my @WSJ colleagues: Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration. wsj.com/world/ukraine-starli…

If this is accurate, Elon lied about not having control over Starshield, and he lied about the administration making the decision.
More importantly, why is a private citizen even *able* to make decisions that could hinder US military operations?

wow did not realize this was an old snl sketch until they said that people born in 1991 would be 15
somewhere in television history, a bald cartoon child grew up, went to college, and apparently left behind a family sitcom nobody was emotionally prepared for. “caillou: the college years” is already a wonderfully suspicious opening: the child we remember from a world of tiny problems has entered adulthood, where the problems now come with tuition bills, complicated family dynamics and parents who still haven't figured everything out. the sketch plays with the strange distance between the innocent world of children's television and the messier reality waiting on the other side. growing up is advertised as freedom, but sometimes it looks like childhood with a larger wardrobe and significantly worse decisions.
