Everything about this story shows how screwed up state decision-making seems to be: "At the time he was awarded refugee status, it was public knowledge that:" he'd worked for the son of a senior Hamas official & had been arrested in Egypt for operating a tunnel allegedly used to smuggle firearms and gold into Gaza...Yet he was granted sanctuary & operated under deep cover as an IT consultant living in the suburbs. He changed his legal name more than once but was "not thought to have been a priority for the British security services as he began co-ordinating with Hamas terrorists on the Continent" .Oh, and a judge granted him anonymity for 100 years, only amended after it was queried by The Sunday Times.
