Every teacher is a language teacher. Love the morpheme posters shared here by Emily. Morphology and etymology should be weaved into every age and stage of schooling. Makes for fascinating detective work.
Got some of these up in our STEAMroom today. Thx @fabdisalvo for a great science resource. The kids who saw them were fascinated. #edchat #primarystemchat fabiodisalvo.com/2022/05/22/…

It's not just engagement that declines as students progress through schooling. Add creativity, enthusiasm, and asking questions to the list. @HumResPro #edchat bradlatzke.com/do-schools-re…

Okay, (A) the way this is laid out is just *chef's kiss,* and (B) I like this progression as a way to help students think about different ways to engage in discussions.

3 questions that drive employee happiness: 1. In the last 7 days, have I received recognition or praise (from anyone) for doing good work? 2. Does someone at work care about me as a person? 3. Is there someone at work who encourages my development? —Buckingham #leadersread

In college, the best writing class I has insisted on like a 280 word limit or something insane. The professor literally graded the paper next to us in one on one meetings

Why do we start the teaching of writing with paragraphs? Paragraphs really only exist within a larger piece is writing. Shouldn’t we start with helping students develop ideas and then teach how to create paragraphs within their ideas? I do not think in paragraphs—do other people?

The education system has to change. Our kids deserve better!
Just read about 120 introduction letters. You want to know what a bunch of kids put for their goals? Get good grades. You want to know what not a single person put once? Learn. What kind of monster have we made?

“But when we trust and train students…, student self-assessment is actually one of the most empowering things we can do as a teacher.” Yes, it is! Learning is a lifelong journey. Let’s provide opportunities for students to practice these skills!
