Spotted while waiting for my suitcase this morning. It got me wondering WHY nobody bats an eye at "Parents MUST..." at an airport whereas even "Parents should..." from school equals complaints, furious phone calls, social media vitriol and local press outrage. @TTRadioOfficial

Schools should be run by adults. Those adults should be the ones employed to run the school. Those very adults should decide the rules, systems & routines to keep a school safe, orderly & a place of learning. This shouldnโ€™t be controversial nor confused as authoritarianism.

With the current political climate building towards the 2026 Scottish Elections, we must seize the day! We cannot let the Scottish Government and COSLA off the hook on their commitments. Vote YES for politicians to finally keep their promises to an overstretched teaching profession working in an under-resourced education system.

Restorative practice has been rolled out at scale in many schools and regions. Unfortunately there are lots of reasons why educators should use extreme caution before adopting RP: 1. Lack of demonstrated effectiveness 2. High costs 3. Decline in adult authority 4. Reduction in safety, calm and ironically, dignity Thatโ€™s not to say itโ€™s not useful in many situations, but as a whole school system replacing other systems (eg boundaries, taught behaviours, consequences) it usually leads to terrible outcomes.
