Indonesia spent crazy amounts of money to relocate its capital from Java to Borneo/Kalimantan 🇮🇩 > Today, the planned capital is turning into a ghost city > The city is struggling to get the funding to finish its projects > Only 10k people live in the city now, even that is far short of its 33k goal > President Prabowo Subianto slashed its budget from $3.5B to just $500M As Indonesian economy falters and its job market weakens, expect prospects for this project to become worse

why can’t we, in 2026, redefine “sound mind” so “non-critical thinkers” can’t vote? i know some countries do it
The 1992 Constitution entitles every Ghanaian citizen aged 18 or above and of sound mind to take part in national decision making. What constitutes “sound mind”, the constitution did not provide.

This is one of the biggest problems in this country: nobody seems willing to tolerate a little personal inconvenience for the benefit of the larger society. “No jobs, so I’m going to inconvenience everyone else by blocking the pedestrian walkway with my container shop because I have three children to feed.” “Climbing the pedestrian bridge will take a few extra seconds, so I’m going to cross the highway elsewhere, even if it endangers other road users.” “There’s a queue at the public toilet, so I’m going to defecate in the sea.” There is a complete disregard for the collective good. It’s all about what I can gain personally, and what I can gain now. What we turn to forget is that rights have limits. One person’s rights should not come at the expense of another person’s rights. Your right to make a living should not infringe on my right to use the pavement. Your right to freedom of movement should not infringe on my right to use the highway safely, without having to contend with pedestrians crossing where they shouldn’t. Your need to relieve yourself should not infringe on my right to live in a clean and sanitary environment. As a people, we often make a lot of noise about being a God-fearing society. Truth is, we are not. Deep down, we are just a bunch of selfish, self-serving people who endorse what benefits us personally and condemn what doesn’t. Nobody seems to care about the bigger picture. And yet, caring about the bigger picture is precisely how developed societies are built.
“What is all this noise? We are tired.” — A resident of Mateheko-Afienya expresses frustration over the persistent noise from train passing through the area, raising concerns about the frequent disturbance and its impact on residents’ peace and comfort. [🎥: Brownsugar Brella]
