Hera’s second braking manoeuvre yesterday proved successful, reducing the spacecraft’s velocity relative to the Didymos and Dimorphos system by 70 m/s from a distance of 2300 km away.
Some 90% of the 31-minute thruster firing took place in the early morning, followed by a cross-check of performance, with the remaining 10% occurring that afternoon.
Hera is now moving at 20 m/s relative to the asteroids; a trio of smaller ‘transition’ manoeuvres this coming week will reduce Hera’s relative velocity down to near zero.

Franco-Swedish partnership.
I had the pleasure of accompanying the President of the French Republic @EmmanuelMacron and the Minister @CaVautrin to Stockholm, on the occasion of the signing of an agreement that will lead to Sweden’s acquisition of four Defence and Intervention Frigates (FDI).
Alongside Vice Admiral Johan Norlén, Chief of the Swedish Navy @Swedish_Navy, we discussed our shared strategic challenges and the deepening cooperation between our two navies.
This agreement marks a new milestone in our partnership, strengthening Europe’s collective security and our ability to act together.

Day 190 orbit 2945 — Woohoo! First spacewalk: ✅
You could probably hear it in my voice over the radio, but I L-O-V-E-D working in the vacuum of space! It's truly an adventure within the adventure, made all the more special because it's a team effort.
👨🚀👩🚀 Only two of us go outside, but we're supported by a huge team: Mission Control in Houston, with @AstroAnnimal as our voice link on the radio, not to mention our crewmates aboard the Station. We know how much time and energy went into planning every task, testing every possible scenario, preparing backup plans B, C and D for contingencies, and being ready to adapt the objectives in real time if needed. There may be only two of us in spacesuits, but we're backed by the work, expertise and collective experience of hundreds of people, and that makes an EVA even more intense!
I was also very happy to share this spacewalk with @astro_anil. We already knew it from training together in the NBL, but this EVA confirmed just how complementary we are. We each have our own strengths, and that allowed us to overcome challenges efficiently and in good spirits.
We were extremely well prepared, which was a really good thing, because not everything went exactly as planned! DIY enthusiasts, mechanics, and anyone who does hands-on work knows that there's sometimes a gap between theory 📚 and practice 🛠️. Sometimes you have to try several approaches before finding the right one, and sometimes you simply have to put all your strength and energy into it. During a spacewalk, it's exactly the same! 🚀
