Ludicrous. The Crucifix doesn’t deny Jesus’ Resurrection. It just keeps the price of it in plain view.

Tomorrow is my Pop's birthday. He would have been 101! He fought in WWII, landed on Iwo Jima, was married to my Mom for 41 years and together they raised four children. Two very important things my Pop taught me: “Always stand and sing the National Anthem out of respect for our great nation, and always VOTE because me and my friends went to war and risked our lives to give you the freedom to be able to VOTE.” I continue to do both of those things and if you ever played on one of my high school teams that I coached, you would know that on Day 1 of making the team you were given a written copy of our National Anthem and were expected (and adhered) to know the words and STAND and SING the National Anthem before every single game. Thanks Pop and Happy Birthday!

Here’s a quick update on “Lucy” and her daughter “Chloe” from her counselor:
"Lucy called me out of the blue to catch me up on how they are doing! Chloe is a little ball of JOY, truly. She is sooo chatty (mom put her on the phone) I chatted with her- asked her favorite color, (she proudly said, "ummm PINK is my favorite color!") asked when her birthday was, it was so so sweet. Mom's prayer requests are 1) that she could get a vehicle in the near future 2) to get a bigger stroller for baby girl, who is 3.5 feet tall! She is going to continue schooling for psychology, her passion is just to help people. I spent some time encouraging her, then I prayed over them. I pray she was blessed!"

It's Friday, so here I am plugging my little shop again. 😂
A little faith, some fall coziness, Thanksgiving pie, and a chicken dressed as a ghost because why not? 👻🐔
We're cutting it close for Halloween orders to arrive in time, but there's still plenty of time to grab something for Thanksgiving! 🍂
It is Friday and the local harvest festivals are going in full swing. Tonight we gather for a petting zoo, corn maze, hot apple cider, and pumpkin selecting. Word on the street is that there will be an apple catapult as well. What will you be wearing?

Please pray for this family and help financially if you can.
Two of my former @BCS_MN students were in a tragic car accident this week: Stephen Clayton (MDiv '24) and Katie O'Shea Clayton (BA '25). Stephen and his son David are with the Lord. Please pray for Katie and John (her 11-month-old son) and her unborn child. Here's an opportunity to help a widow in her affliction (James 1:27):

Stephen was one of the finest men I helped to train—above-reproach character and highly competent. He came to my home on Saturday mornings to work out probably over 100 times. (We did a lot of weighted Murphs together.) I last talked to him when he attended our church's conference on the home nearly two months ago. He was full of joy and courage as he served as a lead pastor. He was a good man. He faithfully finished his race—far sooner than we expected.
God is meticulously sovereign over a bouncing trailer tire. I think of Sarah Edwards’s letter to her daughter Esther shortly after Jonathan Edwards died from a smallpox inoculation:
“My very dear child, What shall I say? A holy and good God has covered us with a dark cloud. O that we may kiss the rod, and lay our hands on our mouths! The Lord has done it. He has made me adore his goodness, that we had him so long. But my God lives; and he has my heart. O what a legacy my husband, and your father, has left us! We are all given to God; and there I am, and love to be.”

Letter to Our Baby in Heaven
A few months ago I walked along the coastline & found a tiny shell, shaped just like the hand of an unborn baby.
The moment I picked it up (your hand in mine), I realized that this was the week of your 28th birthday. Except that it wasn’t, because you left us before we could ever hold you & care for you. Your birthday was your heavenly home-going day.
But for the short time you were with us – which we blithely assumed would meld into months as you readied for this world – we loved you & knew you as our own. We sang & talked to you daily & welcomed your joyous presence into our lives. We tried to imagine you & all you would become.
And then...we lost you.
You came & went, & broke & mended our hearts all at once. For as much as we miss you & wonder who you would have been on earth, you are our forever baby, our eternal child.
You are an enduring, unchanging soul – totally young & fully completed.
You anchor us to eternity even now, just as you did then, when, adrift in our heartache, my husband & I mourned your loss & gave each other grace as we navigated grieving differently.
You are the embodiment of the deepest joy & greatest pain, connecting me in a collective tornado of grief to a million other mothers whose children have left them too early.
As I hold this perfect shell, I am sure of why you came and left: in entering our lives & silently leaving, you were doing God’s work.
Your every moment was counted, your every heartbeat recorded, your life forever written into ours. Through the suffering of your departure, we have come to know the suffering of many & the celebration of every life, regardless of the length.
Without ever drawing a single breath, you taught us about love & trust & letting go. You taught us to not only grudgingly accept but openly embrace God’s plan. That plan is painful at times, oh yes. But there is healing in the pain that brings you to your knees, turns your face upwards & bars bitterness from your heart’s door.
And so we know we did not lose you.
Though I at times feel lost, I am held by the certainty that you are waiting to welcome us, pointing our way to the Place you already call home.

If it's too inappropriate for adults to hear in a public hearing, maybe it's too gross for children to be subjected to in school libraries? #ProChildPolitics
MUST WATCH: NC resident was REMOVED from an @isschools board meeting after exposing p*rnographic books available to CHILDREN.
Board Chair Doug Knight wouldn't let him read it out loud cuz it’s "nasty” yet it’s in the school library for kids.
Make it make sense
