Now the Wall Street Journal @WSJ Editorial Board is taking Senator Roger Marshall, to task. Today’s print edition headline: “Roger Marshall Backs a Giant Tax Increase.” The editorial criticizes Marshall’s proposal to eliminate the Social Security payroll tax cap, currently $184,500 in annual earnings. Here’s what the board wrote: “Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas is the latest to call for a giant tax increase even without any policy reform.” “Mr. Marshall—the Republican, remember—came out in favor of what would be one of the largest peacetime tax increases in recent decades.” “That would amount to a 12.4% marginal tax rate increase on workers above that amount—6.2% each on workers and their employers. It’d be a punitive tax on work.” “Never mind that under the most optimistic assumptions, eliminating the cap wouldn’t come close to filling the entitlement’s funding gap. And that’s before accounting for the damage to the economy from pushing effective marginal income-tax rates on millions of earners above 60% in some states.” “Mr. Marshall is trying to out-Democrat his Democratic opponent, Adam Hamilton.” “Mr. Hamilton said at the same debate he’d support raising but not eliminating the payroll tax cap, which means he supports a smaller tax increase than the Republican in the race.” “This is a political mistake for the ages because this debate is bigger than Social Security. In its impact on the federal budget and consequences for economic growth, Social Security reform may be the most important policy this year’s class of Senators will debate during their term. Why vote for Republicans if all you’ll get is left-wing, tax-and-spend economic policies masquerading as right-wing populism?” 🔥 Read it here: 🔗 wsj.com/opinion/roger-marsha… #KsSen #KsLeg #Kansas #Taxes #Vote

Watching Roger Marshall get called out on Fox News about his campaign 👀 🔥 Roger, you helped create this mess. You backed the tariffs and Iran war squeezing Kansas farmers, businesses and families. Nearly 600 days without an open public town hall. Telling Americans to make sacrifices. Fourteen votes against efforts to end the Iran war. That’s your record. You defended easing sanctions on Russia and voted against aid to Ukraine. Meanwhile, End Citizens United has requested a Senate Ethics investigation into alleged misuse of taxpayer resources. The American Prospect reports that your legislation could benefit businesses connected to your longtime donor and your wife’s investments. Kansans deserve answers. In July, you said “the midterms will be decided by the price of gasoline in October.” Well, Roger, it’s October. Kansans are paying those prices. And they’re voting. You chose Trump and Florida over Kansas. You did this to yourself. #KsSen #VoteForChange #KS #KsLeg

The AP’s numbers speak volumes. Since the August primary: Adam Hamilton: More than 10,000 contributions from Kansas residents. Roger Marshall: About 200. That’s roughly 50 to 1 in Kansas contributions. And Leroy Towns, former chief of staff to Republican Senator Pat Roberts, is backing Hamilton, too. Kansans across party lines are stepping up for Adam Hamilton. Now let’s turn that support into votes. #ksleg #kssen #Kansas #grassroots #Vote

Gas prices. Inflation. Corruption. Those are voters’ top three concerns in Fox News polling. Roger Marshall keeps selling fear, urging you to question your safety while sidestepping questions about his own record. He backed tariffs that raised costs and an Iran war that drove fuel prices higher. Kansans are paying for those choices. Meanwhile, a watchdog has requested an ethics investigation into his alleged misuse of taxpayer resources for political activity. Making you afraid doesn’t erase his responsibility. Kansans deserve lower costs, honest government, and answers from the senator who helped make these problems worse. #KsLeg #KsSen #Corruption #Gas #inflation #VoteForChange #Kansas

Former KS House Republican Majority leader endorses Adam Hamilton over Roger Marshall “By this point in the election cycle, we are all fed up with the constant barrage of election messaging. We are ready for it to stop. We long to see ambulance-chasing lawyer ads on TV, cute animal videos on social media, and we are even looking forward to the day our mailbox contains nothing more than bills. The messaging barrage is relentless, but accomplishes very little. If we desire clarity before we enter the voting booth, we need to shut out all that noise and examine the evidence before our eyes. In the Kansas campaign for U.S. Senator, we can judge incumbent Senator Roger Marshall on his record — by his actions and by his inaction. By that metric, he has failed Kansas time and again. Roger Marshall failed to speak out while the Trump administration’s actions hurt international trade alliances which Kansas farmers, consumers, and businesses depend upon. He has defended ill-conceived tariffs that continue to devastate Kansas’s economy. He regularly shows up on cable preaching about the threat of immigration but then quietly pleads for amnesty when ICE raids target our workforce in southwest Kansas. He speaks out of both sides of his mouth on issues critical to Kansas agriculture. Roger Marshall has enthusiastically supported tax policy which further enriches the wealthiest, while average Kansans fall further behind. And he has remained in support of an ill-conceived Iran war, which has created significant negative effects on the U.S. economy — easily seen in $4 a gallon gas and $6 a gallon diesel. And finally, Marshall has turned a blind eye to rampant corruption within the administration and has supported them in their refusal to bring justice to the thousands of victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his associates. Roger Marshall’s actions and inactions demonstrate his choice to ignore the needs and wishes of his constituents. He has chosen instead to do the bidding of his fat-cat donors and to consistently, unthinkingly, and obediently follow the wishes of the president. If we allow him to continue to ignore his constituents, we are telling him that it is OK. We are telling him that he can ignore us without consequence. This is how representative government dies. When we consider the alternative, Pastor Adam Hamilton, we can look to his well-respected background as a church founder and pastor. That is a wonderful and inspiring story, and I have seen it firsthand by attending his church on a few occasions. But we can also examine his words during the campaign even as we acknowledge that he must prove those words in office. Adam promises to lead and govern from the center, with compassion and understanding; or, as he has claimed on the campaign trail, he will use his brain, his heart, and his courage on behalf of all Kansans. He has pledged to avoid extremes and to be present and accessible to Kansans. These are just words at this point, but I certainly like what I hear, and I believe it is time to give the new guy a chance. As a 12-year veteran of the Kansas Legislature, I certainly understand how the system works. But I also earnestly believe that there will be times when a legislator must take an unpopular stand when it is of great importance to his or her constituents. Failure to do so inevitably leads constituents to ask why their representative is even in office, and for whom he serves. Increasingly, Roger Marshall’s constituents are asking exactly those questions. It is time for Roger to go. It is time to put our trust in @Hamilton4Kansas. I respectfully ask you to join me in doing so. — Don Hineman, of Dighton, is a rancher and former member and Republican majority leader in the Kansas House of Representatives. “We are registered Republicans, but as members of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, we can’t stand by and listen to the lies about Adam Hamilton by his opponent in the race for Kansas’ seat in the U.S. Senate. Let us tell you the truth about Hamilton, our pastor and friend for 26 years. He is genuine, caring, honest, humble and very smart, with great vision and the ability to bring sides together to solve problems. He is someone who will listen to you and whom you can trust, knowing he will work for all the people of Kansas. He is not far left or far right but is, in fact, the moderate we have seen all these years. We urge you to go hear Adam speak and to meet him if you have the opportunity because you will see how genuine he is. His beliefs and values shape who he is. Despite his busy campaign schedule, he recently visited a longtime church member and friend of ours who is in hospice. That’s who he is. Adam Hamilton founded Resurrection in 1990, and the church has grown into the nation’s largest United Methodist congregation under his leadership. He would be the first to say, however, that it is God’s church, not his. The thing we love most about our church is its service and outreach to others. Resurrection has been the largest donor of blood in the Kansas City area for many years running. The church, under Adam’s direction, gives all its Christmas offerings (about $2 million last year) to those in need in the Kansas City area and in Africa. Members have painted inner-city schools, built playgrounds, provided school supplies, given out tons of food and purchased a mobile dental clinic and funded a pharmacy for those who can’t afford such services. The church holds an annual leadership institute where Methodist pastors and leaders from across the country gather to learn, share and be inspired. This is why we are not supporting Republicans this year: First, here’s a quote from Winston Churchill: “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” That is where America finds itself today, in a war without an end. Second, having a daughter, a granddaughter and daughter-in-law, we see no support for the release of the Epstein files. Third, as retirees with Social Security being our main source of income, we find that the campaign promises during the last elections for improving the economy have fallen flat. There also is a lack of decorum in our elected officials, whom we expect to treat others as they want to be treated (do unto others). And, finally, we quote Harry Truman on politicians: “Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician, and I’ll show you a crook.” That’s what is very wrong in Washington today and why we support @Hamilton4Kansas. He will be a great senator for Kansas!” (Gerry and Mary Lewis of Overland Park have been members of Resurrection since 2000. Both are area college graduates and have worked for Kansas City area major employers Sprint and Hallmark Cards.) #KsSen #KsLeg #VoteForChange

Replying to @DustinH1130
It’s verified he was arrested for masturbating in the parking lot outside a gym. What’s not clear is why the disposition and final judgement is missing from the available court records in Johnson County. Do you know where the records went? Does Marshall? They were business partners then and remain so today. What happened to the $20M Covid money? Do you believe Marshall should renounce his endorsement by former Congressmen Matt Gaetz? He was accused of sex trafficking young women and sex with minors last week? Is this a pattern of who Marshall keeps in his circle? We can do much better!

Americans see government corruption at historic levels. Roger Marshall owes Kansans answers. Gallup finds 89% of Americans believe government corruption is widespread, a record in its 20-year trend, including 83% of Republicans. Fox News finds 88% of registered voters are extremely or very concerned about government corruption. The American Prospect reports that Marshall-backed legislation could benefit companies connected to longtime donor and business partner Dan Tasset, including agricultural companies in which Marshall’s wife holds investments. Those overlapping public duties and private interests deserve scrutiny. End Citizens United has requested a Senate ethics investigation into alleged misuse of taxpayer-paid staff and travel for campaign purposes. Its complaint cites nearly $23,000 in New York travel that coincided with $119,900 in contributions. It also questions approximately $4,000 in travel connected to his Sugar Bowl visit, with Sarasota stops where he had a vacation home. Marshall’s campaign says he complies with applicable laws and rules. Kansans deserve an independent investigation and a public accounting. Public office is a public trust. 2/2 WHY THE HOSPITAL RECORD MATTERS KFF Health News documented Noble Health’s closure of Audrain and Callaway hospitals in Missouri in March 2022. Its reporting identified Tasset as a director in a Missouri corporate filing and examined Nueterra’s corporate connections to Noble. KFF also reported nearly $20 million in federal COVID relief, unpaid bills and workers whose insurance deductions continued even though their benefits were not being funded. One ultrasound technologist reported facing $250,000–$300,000 in medical bills. In 2023, KFF reported Labor Department interim findings seeking $5.4 million to cover unpaid employee health claims. That was not a final personal judgment against Marshall or Tasset. The Prospect does not establish that Marshall profited from the failed hospitals themselves. The relevance is scrutiny of judgment and relationships: a senator advocating for rural health care has longstanding investment, fundraising and family connections to a business network associated with serious hospital failures. THE SEPARATE WORKPLACE RECORD A 2016 federal court order recounts an email informing Tasset about harassment and alleged retaliation involving another physician at a Nueterra-managed surgery center. His response sought financial statements and projections without specifically addressing that physician’s behavior. The order addressed pretrial motions, not a final verdict establishing every allegation. THE MEDICAL-DEBT COMPARISON The Student Borrower Protection Center, quoting Sarah Kliff’s New York Times investigation, described 700+ patient lawsuits filed by Marshall, arrests in 81 cases for missed court appearances, and routine 18% annual interest charges. That supports a political comparison about financial accountability for patients, employers and investors. It does not establish that Marshall directed Noble’s conduct. Kansans deserve an explanation of how Marshall manages these overlapping interests—and whether he has taken steps to separate his household’s financial interests from his public duties. 1/2 Dan Tasset, Roger Marshall’s longtime business partner and financial backer, was listed on the 2019 Kansans for Marshall Kansas Finance Team, according to the Great Bend Tribune. KCTV5 reported Tasset’s arrest on a lewd-conduct charge in 2007. Outpatient Surgery Newsletter quoted a prosecutor’s spokesman saying patrons “could see an individual in a dark-colored SUV masturbating.” Tasset pleaded not guilty and said he was changing clothes. The final court disposition has not been verified. Today, The American Prospect published two investigations tracing Marshall and Tasset’s business partnership to 1998. THE POTENTIAL CONFLICT OF INTEREST Marshall helps write federal policies affecting industries in which his household has investments linked to a major political backer. That gives the relationship three overlapping dimensions: POLITICAL SUPPORT The Prospect reports $218,000+ in individual donations from Nueterra employees and subsidiaries, including $47,600 from Tasset, plus a separate $100,000 from a Tasset-affiliated company to a pro-Marshall super PAC. Together: more than $318,000 in reported network-linked support. That is not Tasset’s personal contribution total. HOUSEHOLD FINANCIAL INTERESTS The Prospect reports $410,923–$1,749,500 in income to Marshall’s wife from a Tasset-linked property fund during 2015–2019. It also reports her 3% interest in NCM Bioscience Partners, with holdings in NewLeaf Symbiotics and Vestaron valued at $1,000–$15,000 and $15,000–$50,000, respectively. These are separate categories: campaign support, fund income and investment values. POLICYMAKING THAT COULD BENEFIT THOSE INTERESTS Official Senate bill text lists Marshall as an original cosponsor of a 2025 bill easing certain physician-owned hospital restrictions and allowing expansion of existing facilities—policies relevant to Tasset’s business. The Prospect’s agriculture investigation makes the household connection more direct: Marshall has promoted biostimulant policies involving regulatory changes and proposed federal assistance while his wife holds investments in companies operating in that sector. If relevant policies lower a company’s costs, expand its market or help it obtain funding, investors could benefit. That is why the household’s ownership matters, even if a policy also has legitimate public benefits. This does not establish bribery or a donation-for-legislation agreement. It raises a concrete question about divided financial interests: how does Marshall ensure his decisions serve the public when his family could also benefit? The Prospect also reports that Marshall’s son worked for Tasset-linked businesses. Senate records separately document a paid internship for a Tasset relative in Marshall’s office. Those employment ties add to the relationship; they do not by themselves establish wrongdoing. Marshall’s campaign told The Prospect he complies with applicable laws and rules. Compliance does not answer every question about how potential conflicts are managed. Hospital consequences, the earlier court record and full sources follow in 2/2. #KsSen #KsLeg #Election #Corruption #Ethics #ConflictOfInterest #Vote
