I’m a Canadian. I’m not an American. Nor do I have a desire to be. I’m not a European. Nor do I wish to pretend to be. It would be nice if we stopped having to define our identity as a sidecar to someone else’s, though.

This district is the home of the Jack Daniels distillery. Which has not been able to sell its booze in much of Canada for almost two years.
It's over. Scott DesJarlais — in Congress since 2011, in a seat redrawn at Trump +24 and priced at 99.9% Republican — has lost to Democrat Victoria Broderick by 280 votes, 95,585 to 95,305, 100% counted. She raised less than $100,000. The shock of the night in Tennessee.

I agree with this entirely. Without equivocation. I do wish to ask why the teenagers are paying the price alone and not the multimillionaire Captain of the Washington Capitals. Only one of them appears in propaganda videos…

Obama has a unique skill a lot of modern politicians deeply lack. The ability to call something absurd in a way that is understood viscerally before it needs to be understood Intellectually. You don’t have to think for a second in this whole bit. You can just react.
Obama tonight on his Cheesecake Factory line: "They mobilized a whole of government response to that joke. Not to inflation, but to that joke. The White House even called the Secretary of the Treasury. This is the man who is in charge of the economy. The person who's supposed to be figuring out how to make your life more affordable. The guy who's supposed to be figuring out how to lower inflation. And reduce interest rates. They told him he should hold a press conference in front of the Cheesecake Factory."

Credit to @JohnFraserOS here. An interim leader has one real job. Protect the Party’s brand. That’s a hard enough job with the OLP at the moment. Crombie left him with no other real choice
BREAKING: Interim Liberal leader John Fraser says he is “disappointed” by Bonnie Crombie’s suggestion in last night’s @readpolicorner story that the Liberal label “wasn’t a good fit” for her. Fraser says “it’s a little surprising to hear.” policorner.ca/p/a-mississaug…

This five point spread between @Conservative_BC and @bcndp has been holding steady for weeks.

There’s a certain kind of hockey player. They think they like to play a rough game: They get deeply, morally offended when someone tries to play rough against them: That is this White House.

Canada wins the best-of-seven series in a sweep! 🧹

The remix just never goes as hard.
Trump: Canada will become the 51st state. Just like Greenland.

Kim is absolutely correct here. Campaigns want their narrative about what advanced voting means. The data across jurisdictions overwhelmingly shows that it simply means that guaranteed voters are locking in earlier.
Advance voting is higher in #topoli What does it mean? More voters, like me, have moved to advanced voting from day of voting. All the years of educating the public have paid off. Well done, politicos.

On @Sportsnet you’ve got @FriedgeHNIC saying the league wants team to move away from white helmets with white jerseys. Just want to point out that @OHLRangers always wore red buckets with white. Unlike @NYRangers

You might want more defence out of William Nylander. You might even be justified in wanting it. But when he’s on a heater, he’s almost unstoppable.

This is actually a really smart way to deal with not having last change.
Lines at Leafs skate Marchenko - Matthews - Roslovic Cowan - Tavares - Nylander McKenna - Paul - Sissons Duhaime - Blueger - Groulx MacEwen McCabe - Tanev Rielly - Raddysh Ekman-Larsson - Stecher Blankenburg Bobrovsky starts Stolarz @TSN_Sports

Don’t make me agree with Gary Bettman. Players who sign no-trade clauses should not be asked to waive them. Players with NTCs, who then request a trade, should be deemed to have waived the NTC. In full.
Gary Bettman believes the NHL has gotten away from the original purpose of no-trade clauses 👀 Bettman says they were intended to protect players signing long-term in a place they wanted to stay, not allow them to demand a trade AND dictate where they’re willing to go. He says if this becomes a bigger problem, the NHL may have to address it with the Players’ Association 🤔

This is a great example of “telling on yourselves”. These internal complaints don’t make the PM sound unreasonable, they make the pre-existing government structure sound complacent. That’s an ineffective posture from which to criticize the PM.

Every marquee sports brand - could be the Yankees, Lakers, Cowboys, Man U, doesn’t matter - embraces being the villain in the other team’s story. Except, historically, Toronto and Montreal. Now, only the Habs* (*offer not valid in Boston)

One of the things every leadership contest is evaluating is the ability to manage a caucus. It’s why endorsements ought to be more functionally important in selection. Running a government is managing people. Basic job qualification.

Allies that acknowledge common history and sacrifice. That’s actually really nice to see given… (Gestures wildly at CNN)
It’s time the helmet went home. Found near Caen, France, close to where Canadian forces fought during Operation Totalise in August 1944, it is a powerful reminder of the Canadians who gave their lives for Europe. Today, this helmet begins its journey back home with @CanadianPM @MarkJCarney, carrying our gratitude and the enduring friendship between Europe and Canada 🇪🇺🇨🇦

Bang on from @mattgurney here. Associate membership in the EU involves pretty difficult conversations with the French, Italians, Dutch and Belgians about cheese, cream, and butter.
Migration/open movement are legitimately major issues that we will need to know more about. But we all know what would kill the deal would actually be the dairy lobbying.
