Strengthened maternity, paternity and parental rights will help our members balance their working and family lives. We want to see an end to pregnancy and maternity dismissals, and better protection from sexual harassment in the workplace. neu.org.uk/latest/press-rele…

Many work from home on days off to get the full leadership role done. Lots of TLR holders are .8 so are in for 4 days. This is discriminatory. If the government want to support flexible working they need to recognise this issue and make schools pay part time leaders fairly.

So I spoke live on @gbnews this morning about the new CQC report on maternity care safety. Am I surprised that maternity care is deemed unsafe? Sadly, no. 😔 The report highlights critical issues: 1️⃣ Safety concerns are widespread in maternity units 2️⃣ There’s a lack of learning from incidents 3️⃣ Inequalities persist, especially for Black and minority ethnic women 4️⃣ Many units are not fit for purpose, lacking essential equipment and space No, poverty isn’t the reason why Black women are disproportionately affected. Poverty is not synonymous with Black women’s poor outcomes in maternity care. Racism is. Lack of culturally competent care is. How many more reports must say the same thing before we see real change? We welcome the announcement today that teachers will be awarded a fully funded 5.5% pay award. This is a necessary first step in reversing the real terms cuts inflicted upon the profession over the last 14 years. #ValueEducators 1/3🧵

"[WBG] recently pointed out, housing is less affordable than it has been at any point in history for single women. Their analysis found that there is nowhere – yes, nowhere, – in Britain where it's affordable for a single woman on an average income to buy/rent a home on her own."
The very real economic reasons for the “marry rich” trend emerging amongst young women are more worthy of our attention than the trend itself. This week’s newsletter @theipaper inews.co.uk/news/young-peopl…

Resisting and calling out racist abuse is not a crime. Charging Selma, Divina and Danae, who were the victims of a racist attack, is a grave miscarriage of justice. Sign our petition urging the CPS to drop the racist charges against the #KingsCross3. southallblacksisters.org.uk/…

Yet another town with a grammar school but no non-selective school. How can it be right that any school turns away local pupils and admits many from outside the area, all while youngsters without an 11+ pass need to travel miles to school? kentonline.co.uk/weald/news/…

I asked Gillian Keegan on @LBC re the NAO report & Panorama 🔹"700,000 children are having to learn in Crumbling Schools. Aren't you ashamed of that?" 🔹She dodged. Claimed I was talking about RAAC. I wasn't. RAAC is only a part of the problem. 🔹She smirked. 🔹She didn't apologise for children having to wear gloves & coats in class. 🔹and she blocked me on Twitter @GillianKeegan 🤷🏼‍♀️ There you go. Another Tory Story What a shambles BTW Michael Gove stopped the schools building programme in 2010 and Tories have been running schools down ever since
'700,000 children have been learning in crumbling schools. Aren't you ashamed of that?' @carolvorders puts her question to Education Secretary Gillian Keegan, who insists the government 'took action immediately' after they learnt of RAAC concrete in schools.

Over 1,000,000 children taught in class sizes of 31 or more Damian. Lift pay, reduce workload - solve the recruitment & retention crisis. de-professionalisation isn't the way 👎
There are now 27,000 more teachers than in 2010. Today, we're launching our Teacher Degree Apprenticeship and I'm excited to seeing the next generation of teaching apprentices enter our brilliant workforce.
