🎯🎯🎯 Reminder:
One of the most powerful tactics citizens have is to politely ask people to define, precisely and on the record, what they mean by a particular term.
Especially those seemingly innocuous, fluffy words you assume you both understand and agree on. Community, diversity, integration, inclusion, vulnerable. The list goes on.
We hear these words constantly and rarely stop to question them. Stop assuming their definitions are the same as yours. More importantly, stop assuming they've even thought about what those words mean themselves.
The next time you hear one of these terms, ask a simple question:
"Can you give me a precise definition of what you mean by that word?"
In my personal experience, it's astonishingly effective. People are often left flabbergasted, unable to articulate a coherent definition of the very words they've been using so confidently.
What follows is often a mixture of embarrassment, confusion and sudden exposure. The authority they assumed came with their language begins to evaporate the moment they're asked to explain it.
And that's what makes this tactic so powerful. You're not attacking anyone. You're not even disagreeing with them. You're simply asking them to explain what they're saying.
You don't have to challenge their argument. Sometimes, asking them to define their own terms is enough to expose how little substance lies behind the language.

Cuan's job is to tackle domestic, sexual and gender-based violence in Ireland.
There are women stuck in abusive homes up and down the country because there are no beds available in women's shelters.
And this advert - designed to challenge the scourge of affectionate grandparents - is what they are spending money on?
Wasting money has real-world consequences. A mis-spent budget means someone stuck with an abusive partner longer than they had to be.
Everyone involved in this decision - top to bottom - should be given their marching orders.

Neale Richmond believes tackling the aids epidemic in Africa is "the right thing to do" when pensioners in Ireland won't be able to heat their homes this winter.
These politicians want to solve the world's problems at the expense of our own citizens.
Many of us believe this is precisely the wrong thing to do, Neale.

I dont want more housing being built for immigrants
33% of all new homes go to social or cost rental housing.
In Dublin, just 25% of all new homes are purchased by individuals. In 2019 it was 55%!
The proportion of new housing directed towards social needs has sky rocketed from around one in eight in the 2000s to around one in three.
At peak Celtic Tiger, we were building 88k homes a year. Today, it’s 36k
This Govt is COMPLETELY FAILING to treat Housing as the emergency it is.

Wind helps us save millions of cubic meters of gas burning on windy days. Thank you, wind. But we have hit peak wind, so don't expect an increase in those fuel burn savings in your lifetime or your kid's lifetime.
Wind does not set our wholesale price of electricity; gas does, ultimately. Wind also increases the portions of our bill that we pay as final retail price of electricity. Wind increases overall grid/network costs and even increases the cost of running a gas plant itself.
Solar doesn't work at night and is barely noticed in the winter.
Gas supplies almost 100% backup of our entire electricity grid; therefore, it is critical for EV car charging and those with heat pumps for heating. For electrification of society, it's therefore critical.
Gas is always required...100% of the time, 365/24/7, as it supplies synchronous power and will be required for the rest of this century at least (beyond 2100)
1/3 of households, mainly urban, use that same gas for heating their homes with gas boilers; another 10% now rely on our gas-backed grid to operate electrically powered heat pumps.
Ireland has zero days of gas storage availability and is the only country that is fully reliant on gas AND has no such strategic storage or import facilities.
Very few other countries have made themselves this dependent on gas and fooled themselves into thinking wind would replace it.

Irish people should be paying very close attention to Keep It Five.
At the centre of what the campaign is promoting is a petition started by Manavi Purohit, a Dublin-based immigration visa and citizenship adviser, opposing the Government’s proposal to increase the residency requirement for Irish citizenship from 5 to 8 years.
But this goes well beyond signing a petition.
Keep It Five provides ready-written letters for people to send to TDs.
Copy, paste, email.
Political responses are tracked. Organisations, unions and businesses are being recruited and numbers gathered specifically to demonstrate pressure to TDs.
Supporters are also directed towards Doras, the Immigrant Council of Ireland, ICCL, Irish Refugee Council, MRCI, Nasc and AkiDwA.
This is organised political pressure over something enormously important - Who qualifies to become an Irish citizen and on what terms?
So who actually runs Keep It Five? Who coordinates it? Who funds it? Who built the campaign operation? What organisations or individuals sit behind it?
Who registered keepitfive.ie / keepitfive.org, who operates it, who pays for it and do any any of these people connect back to the NGOs?immigration industry?
And how much of the apparent public pressure reaching TDs is spontaneous and how much is being generated through organised campaigns and ready-to-send correspondence?
Lobby away. But if you want to influence Irish citizenship law, put your own cards on the table.
Irish citizenship is too important for anonymous campaign machinery. Who is behind Keep It Five?
No wonder
@OCallaghanJim is feeling the pressure. @brophytalks
