Sorry @BelTel I must have missed your write up on the string of convicted IRA terrorists being paraded this past week on Garvaghy Rd beside Sinn Fein 🤔
A convicted sectarian killer turned right wing rabble-rouser known as ‘Mr X’ is backing Orangemen at Drumcree.

Well, there's a coincidence, Ben and Owen. I got the sack at the same time. Is Rodney conducting a clean sweep of unionists?
There is no Owen Polley column in today's News Letter. Owen @3000Versts tells me he got an email late last week scrapping the column forthwith. There is much I could say about his excellent writing. For now I'll say that at a time when unionist commentators are in seriously short supply, by which I mean voices that actually defend the very strong case to be made for unionism and are not afraid to criticise a nationalism that, as recent weeks have shown, gets ever more assertive, I was delighted to have Owen as our Monday columnist for the full five years of my @News_Letter editorship. He wrote about the range of unionist concerns, from nationalist political overeach and cultural triumphalism, the legacy outrage to, above all, the Irish Sea border. Owen warned about the supposedly harmless idea of a backstop before it even came in. Latterly he regularly chronicled how it was nonsense to say the constitutional outrage of an internal UK frontier had been scrapped. What a counterblast he is to the dominant NI commentary outlook. His vital voice will no doubt be heard in other forums

Let Sinn Fein wallow in their own hatred and bigotry, with their "Brits out everyone else in" plan for a new Ireland. We will get on with building across the divide while they are left on the wrong side of history. Michelle your mask has slipped & what we see is very ugly!

Mary Lou McDonald has exposed the snarling hatred and supremacism which lurks (and always lurked) beneath the surface.
In simple terms, if the law goes for them, everyone must abide by the law. If it goes against them, then the law must be set aside and instead nationalism will subjectively decide what is ‘right’.
This is an extraordinary position for any mainstream political party.

Unionist politicians and representatives were spat at on their way out of court. A legal firm has had to walk away after receiving threats for representing Orangemen. Republicans hurled abuse at children driving past Edgarstown festival. IRA songs are played during an illegal road block. All from those saying “No Going Back.”

🚨 ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL. ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS. 🚨
What we are now seeing on the streets of Northern Ireland and witnessing is one of the most shocking displays of public lawlessness I have ever seen.
Sinn Féin are putting two fingers up to the rule of law.
Michelle O’Neill has once again blatantly disregarded the very principles that are supposed to underpin democracy and the rule of law, while Sinn Féin individuals are allegedly breaking the law, blocking a public highway and creating an illegal road blockade.
And what are we witnessing?
The Police Service of Northern Ireland sitting there while this is happening.
It is an absolute and utter disgrace.
How on earth can the public have confidence in policing if roads can allegedly be blocked and people can apparently defy the law while the authorities stand by?
THIS IS A NATIONAL SCANDAL.
The failure to enforce the law where offences are suspected is utterly shameful and demands immediate answers.
Sinn Féin cannot be allowed to behave as though they are above the law.
Michelle O’Neill cannot be allowed to behave as though she is above the law.
NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW.
The video footage I have seen is some of the most shocking footage I have witnessed. If it accurately captures what took place, then every single aspect of it needs to be properly investigated.
Any allegation of criminality must be dealt with through evidence, investigation and due process — regardless of who is involved.
The PSNI must explain what happened.
What offences were suspected?
What action was taken?
Why was the road allowed to remain blocked?
Were arrests considered?
Were files prepared for prosecutors?
The public deserves answers.
Because if the perception takes hold that Sinn Féin can mobilise people onto the streets, roads can be blocked and the law can be ignored without consequence, then public confidence in policing and the entire political system will be severely damaged.
And I fail to see how the Northern Ireland Executive and Assembly can simply carry on Monday as though nothing has happened.
The institutions depend upon respect for democracy, the rule of law and accountability.
Those principles cannot be optional.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL. IT IS ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS.
There must be accountability.
There must be consequences where the evidence establishes wrongdoing.
And there must be one law for everyone.
NO POLITICAL PARTY. NO POLITICIAN. NO INDIVIDUAL IS ABOVE THE LAW.

Deputy First Minister accuses First Minister of “a complete abdication of leadership.”
“Unionism has remained dignified and calm - asking for the law to be upheld, with all engaging honestly and openly with the process.”
Once again we see Sinn Fein swan in and seek to use a challenging situation for blatant electioneering.
Instead of urging calm heads and creating space for compromise and discussion - they have led the hardline and bitter campaign.
It is not the voices or faces of the Garvaghy Road we are seeing or hearing. It is political nationalism running after hardliner Breandán Mac Cionnaith and whipping up harder and harder positions of no, nay, never.
It is deeply irresponsible.
Unionism has remained dignified and calm - asking for the law to be upheld, with all engaging honestly and openly with the process.
The behaviour of Michelle O’Neill and her party has been disgraceful. A complete abdication of leadership.
I have been out and about all day, engaging with so many people from across and all are horrified by the hate and bitterness, and the law breaking, lead by Sinn Fein and the First Minister. This reckless behaviour and hateful attitude will not be forgotten. It reveals what an absolute joke their fake words are about a “shared Ireland” or a shared future.
The full weight of the law must be applied.
Unionism must not lower itself to provocation or hate - all should remain calm.
The tail of this week will run long in the hearts and the minds of so many.
