Hi Abuti, I'm 39 years old, married to a beautiful woman, and we have twins who are currently staying with their grandmother in the village. I lost my job, but my wife has been supportive. She buys groceries, takes care of our children and makes sure we have everything we need. I appreciate her, but my brother, behind closed doors, I'm slowly losing myself.
Since I'm home full time, I'm the chef, cleaner and driver. I cook, clean and prepare everything so that when my wife comes home from work, she can bathe and rest. But my duties don't end there!
My wife sets alarms for intimacy at night, in the evening when she comes home, and again in the morning. This woman is never tired! Her battery is always at 100%, while mine has been on 2% for months. I'm barely sleeping, and apparently, even unemployment doesn't qualify me for sick leave!
And Abuti, an hour is nothing for her. Anything less than an hour, she will look me in the eyes and tell me to up my game. So every time I have to push beyond my limits just to not disappoint her. I try my best not to disappoint her, but my body is disappointed in me.
I must also drive her to work, return home, do all the chores, wait for her to knock off and then pick her up. I'm applying for jobs every day, hoping someone will rescue me. My CV is travelling more than I am, but nobody is calling!
I'm grateful for everything she does, but surely losing my job doesn't mean losing my right to rest? I'm tired, my brother. If it weren't for our marriage and our children, I would have run away a long time ago.
Am I wrong for feeling this way? How do I tell my wife I'm grateful for her support but exhausted by these demands? Becouse at this rate, I'm not looking for a job anymore, I'm looking for a replacement to take over my shifts!
