With 114 individuals the Small Skipper was by far the most numerous butterfly on this week transects. We finished just shy of last weeks total with only 498 individuals counted from 18 species. @BCWarwickshire @savebutterflies @ukbutterflies @NatureUK @NaturalEngland @WKWT

Despite seeing only one adult White-letter Hairstreak on and around the Elm in Phear park, Exmouth so far this year, I've already found 6 eggs amongst the low-hanging, sun-exposed branches. @BCDevon @ExmouthWildlife

You don’t often see a Meadow Brown keep its wings open long enough for a photo. At 8.30 am, this female must have been warming herself up. @savebutterflies @BCWarwickshire @BC_WestMids

A species which has recently been moving northwards and looks to have finally reached Warwickshire. Amongst the catch of 2000+ individual moths of 169+ species were Kent black arches and Tree lichen beauty - 2 other northward spreading moths #mothmonday 📷 Alan Prior

Sound the first for Warwickshire siren! Acleris umbrana is a micro moth that Alan Prior (one of our moth experts), suspects is a first county record. This individual was caught as part of a moth trapping survey near Bidford-upon-Avon on 30th June.

Here's my article from the latest issue of Butterfly @savebutterflies - I just LOVE hairstreaks, and I want more people to experience their incredible life-cycle. I hope info like this can make these beautiful and elusive butterflies more accessible for all!

Male Green-veined Whites imbibing minerals from wet horse manure today, + a Comma. This is more GVWs than I'd seen all brood - a big hatch of them here today (in Glos, back to Knepp tomorrow, hopefully)
