Digitalisation is reshaping how roads are built, managed and used, opening the way for vehicles, infrastructure and people to be seamlessly connected.
From vehicle-to everything (V2X) communication and AI-enabled traffic management to automation and data-driven mobility services, Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) represents the frontier of road innovation.
This session will look ahead to how CCAM can transform the road sector in the coming decade. It will explore how digital tools and automation are evolving, what opportunities they bring for smarter and safer mobility and how governments, industry and cities can prepare for rapid technological change.
Leading the conversation are speakers Bin Ran from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ibon Aretxalde from ASIMOB, Jorge Suárez Luque from ETRA, Siddartha Khastgir from WMG, University of Warwick and Tom Alkim from MAPtm.
The session will be moderated by IRF Project Manager Iona Kirkpatrick.

Road crashes in the UK remain a major challenge. Over 1,600 people lose their lives and 30,000 are seriously injured every year, costing society over £55billion.
These tragedies are not inevitable. PACTS has set out key recommendations to help shape the Government’s forthcoming road safety strategy - focused on harm reduction and grounded in internationally recognised Safe System principles. With bold action, we can save lives and reduce serious injuries.
