Really pleased to see progress on updating the outdated HMRC mileage rates, unchanged for *15 years!*.
Working people shouldn’t have to pay to drive for work, it hits social care workers especially hard, taking some well below the living wage.

Millions of people rely on their car to do their job, but HMRC's mileage rates have been unchanged since 2011.
With costs rising since then, we are reviewing the rates for the first time in 15 years ahead of the Budget.

Our view is that an eyesight check should be required every ten years when a driving licence is renewed. For many people waiting until 70 might be way too late.
