FACILITY UPDATE: Following passage by the legislature and the Detroit City Council, the department has transitioned operation of the Detroit Detention Center (DDC) to the City of Detroit as of today, August 1, 2025.

The department has drastically expanded post-secondary opportunities offered in Michigan prisons and we are proud of these men for being living examples of the transformation possible. We're grateful to our staff and partner colleges who create those opportunities.

Muskegon Correctional Facility staff, MDOC education staff, @HopeCollege and @westernsem faculty and staff, and family members and loved ones of each graduate joined to recognize their accomplishments.

🧵Yesterday we celebrated the graduation of 9 men from the HWPEP at MCF! These graduates received bachelor's degrees they have worked hard to earn. Notably, these 9 are the very first cohort to complete this program - they're pioneers as Administrator Kyle Kaminski put it.

This week Central Michigan Correctional Facility in St. Louis hosted the largest Road to Restoration clinic inside a facility yet. A partnership with @MichSoS , RTR is a free clinic to assist Michigan residents in taking the next steps to get their driving privileges restored.

Today, the latest Northern Region recruit class is celebrating their graduation from the academy following 8 weeks of intensive training! Now they'll continue their training as they enter facilities around the U.P. Congrats, officers!
