According to this database, fewer than 8% of shows and events at this year's @edfringe centre People of Colour (calculated using the criterion that 50% or more of the performers or speakers on a particular stage are People of Colour). That's just 256 shows out of 3,317.

To fellow actors: The race to the bottom is real. The more we accept jobs like that, the less likely we will be able to make this career livable for many. Especially with AI on the rise. Value yourself, the industry, and your community of actors more.

Yes, it’s increased my hate for the government that has pushed these poor workers into obscene levels of hardship that they’re forced to strike
Tell us: have you been affected by the strikes? theguardian.com/uk-news/2022…

Why do we do the #FringeOfColour spreadsheet? At the Fringe, shows by Artists of Colour have made up only about 6% of the programme in previous years. At the 2020 International Festival, less than 10% of all the performers were People of Colour. So it can be hard to find them...

Massive thank you to the 96 actors who attended @PlayPiePint open casting workshop and to the PPP team for organising this. It is so exciting to see a company be so open to meeting new talent and diversifying their pool of actors.

1) If you’re a person of privilege who claims to be an ally and you’re told you’re being harmful, then the correct reaction is to listen, learn, apologise and do better. It really is that simple.
If you’re defensive then the question is ‘were you ever trying to help?’

There's a phenomenon I actually see extremely commonly when literature is used to teach history to middle school and high school students. Let's call it "pajamafication."

I really dislike the “we feel fools for following the rules” narrative - as if the rules were wrong, not the fact Johnson broke them. No one should feel stupid for following public health guidance, all at a time of no vaccine and immense NHS pressure. Your actions saved lives.

Can the public view things like canes/crutches/etc like glasses please.
Glasses help millions SEE every day. We think nothing of it anymore. To the point people forget they're an accessibility device, not fashion. Yet. If the majority lost their glasses, they'd be incapacitated.
