Hey @Walgreens do you monitor this account and deal with customer service and privacy concerns with your pharmacies? I’d like to share something privately if possible. Thank you.

People of X how can I help my sister get a bib for the #BostonMarathon? She has struck out on every front last year and the year before and is looking for wisdom and help. She does qualify! :)

My eyes were wet from start to finish. I thought of being little in a big world & watching my son's first tries at this mad game. ESPN's Open to the NHL season is beautiful. I didn't expect to cry today-this is stunning. There's nothing like this sport. We at ESPN love the sport as you do. ❤️ Enjoy.

When I start teaching complex analysis on Monday, I've been wondering what to say to my class about why math is still worth studying in the age of AI. Here is Francis Su's (@mathyawp) answer: studying math develops human virtues like tenacity and creativity.
With the start of the semester just a week away, here’s what I decided to say to my upper division math course about how AI will or won’t change what they’re learning… The Enduring Value of Math, in an Age of AI francissu.substack.com/p/the…

Preach! We may have singlehandedly turned Target’s numbers around.
If you thought college tuition was expensive, wait until that last minute run to Target to get her all the toiletries she will need.

This is the central problem with higher education in the age of AI. We can't require students to do take-home writing assignments (e.g. term papers) any more, because most will cheat and have ChatGPT or Claude or Grok do the writing. But we can't teach critical thinking, rationality, perseverance, & scholarship without requiring writing assignments that they work on -- researching, drafting, editing, revising, polishing -- over a period of days or weeks. The result may be a whole generation of students who can't really write, or think, or articulate what they really believe and value, and why.
Yes. Writing is not a second thing that happens after thinking. The act of writing is an act of thinking. Writing *is* thinking. Students, academics, and anyone else who outsources their writing to LLMs will find their screens full of words and their minds emptied of thought.

I signed up and committed to running an SAT/ACT Math prep "camp" at my school's summer camps. It's 4 hours daily, M-F, 1 week. I'll start & end w/practice tests, but I'm debating how to frame the rest of the time. Have you done this? What worked best for you? #MTBoS #ITeachMath

#MTBoS I'm re-working a #stats unit for our h.s. Geometry course, & I'm looking for fun data science articles for examples. I used to rely on @FiveThirtyEight for such stuff, but it's gone. What are your new data go-to's? (Think: entertainment, sports, education ... NO politics)

Feeling so very sad today and thinking of @druinok. We will forever miss you, Shelli. I am a better teacher and person because of you.

We practiced with caskets that were stored outside our barracks building. To simulate the weight of honored remains, we’d toss several full sandbags into the belly of the casket and then, for hours, we’d go through our exact movements. Over and over and over. (thread)

My h.s. sr is looking to learn about the world of sports medicine & ideally to get to help with some research. She's struck out w/various requests; medical offices can allow for a shadow day, but can't provide much more. Any ideas for approaches/opportunities? We're in central ME

In calculus, we talk pretty frequently about multiplying by "convenient form of 1" to do some algebraic manipulation. This is similar, relying on properties of additive inverses instead of multiplicative inverses. I can't wait to share it with my students!
We don't always have to rely on "two negatives make a positive" when subtracting negatives. Here's another way to think about it.

Total autonomy in your geometry class, but very limited time. You've cut transformations and constructions. You've pared triangle centers, quadrilaterals WAY back, but still can't (really) get to SA & Vol. What trades do you make? What WON'T you cut? #MTBoS #ITeachMath #Geometry

Why are we asking kids to re-express like this? I get building fluency, but this is something I cannot fathom ever using. What do elementary/middle math people say? #MTBOS
