Serious accidents involving cyclists have increased 500 per cent on a bicycle lane that Jeremy Vine claimed had improved road safety, analysis of collision data suggests.
Vine praised the west-London King Street route after a segregated bike lane was introduced, costing taxpayers millions of pounds.
However, research shows that from 2016 to 2019, there were five serious collisions involving bikes on King Street and Hammersmith Road.
After the bike lane was built, there were 30 between 2021 and 2024.
The King Street cycle lane, part of the £12m Cycleway 9, has been controversial because it involves a two-way cycle track built on a one-way street.
