Excited to share my new paper, with teams at @CMC_CHA and @MGHMartinos! tinyurl.com/2ncx2fpk We found that after an 8-week mindfulness intervention (MTPC), patients with anxiety and/or depression showed increased insula fMRI response to interoceptive attention. 1/2

Among patients with moderate/severe depression (triangles), but not those with no or mild depression (circles), increased insula activation after MTPC was associated with increased Body Trust, a sub-scale of MAIA previously linked with depression (Dunne et al., 2021) 2/2

Today begins a new @visceral_mind collaboration with @Marc_M_Andersen and colleagues from @RecFearLab - we'll be measuring cardiac interoception just before participants enter a real life haunted house! Can't wait to see if ecological fear relates to interoception. 🎃👻🫀

This seems to implicitly assume that the only valuable outcome from a mentoring relationship is a research track career for the mentee. Perhaps a better metric is the c-index: the number of mentees willing to have a coffee with the mentor after 5 years ;)

Two years ago, I asked hundreds of neuroscientists (including many of you!) at various levels about their skills and career trajectories. Now, I can finally share some of those insights in my first senior author preprint, with Saloni Shah! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

If you are just starting out or considering a career in neuroscience, learn to code! Honestly, pick any language and just learn to do the basics: loops, indexing, conditionals. You don't need much more than that for 90% of workflows.
