A review in Nature Reviews Neurology explores how low-field #MRI could bring dementia-relevant imaging beyond specialized centers and into community settings. Dementia burden is projected to rise in low- and middle-income countries, where MRI access per capita is lowest. India has fewer than 0.3 MRI scanners per million people while the U.S. and Japan have 30-50 per million. #NEWS: #Hyperfine has completed patient enrollment in the Contrast PMR study evaluating contrast-enhanced ultra-low-field portable MRI with the Swoop® system. The study assesses the system's ability to visualize common contrast-enhancing brain lesions using standard gadolinium-based contrast agents. If the indication for use with contrast-enhancing agents were granted, bringing this capability to portable MRI has the potential to expand use in outpatient settings and open new applications for post-procedural imaging in surgical environments, including assessment of residual tumor after resection.
